Question: Packaging?

Recommended Posts

Good Morning all.....
I have a quick question for everyone.
Would packaging be better if you could re-use the conatainer again..and get refills from supplier direct for a slightly better price(no jar or retail packaging?)
what do you guys think?

Well I already keep my tobacco in a glad container. That would be cool, just go to your shop and tell them to fill it up! Thats what I do for the flavors I keep buying, put it in the same container. I want to try some lock in lock also and see how they are.

I like this idea actually but the one thing that would suck would be if you dont live near a supplier.. Do you think you could sell two types of your tobacco online? One comes with the container and is a little more expensive then you could buy the tobacco in just some baggies for a cheaper price.. Is the container your talking about heavy duty and kick ass?

That is exactly where I am going with this....
You buy a jar of say " jungle juice", you LOVE it...of course..lol
and you want to refill, I will send you a bag full..you then can re-use the jar.
and of course, the refill would be a bit cheaper....
this way, I might be able to set up an actual flavor of the month club that you buy into for 250 grams a month...
the container is still up in the air..but working on it. samples are on the way..within a week, this will come to some sort of fruitition.
thanks....for the help..any more ideas are more than welcome...

One problem I see is that sending the shisha in a plasitc bag is asking for leaky boxes. The post office and Fed ex have managed to mange the hell out of several of my Tangiers shipments because they are only double sealed shrinkwrap type plastic film., not solid containers. You'd have to pack the bags of shisha VERY well, lots of peanuts etc to keep the box from getting crushed and the tobacco from leaking. When it comes in tubs thats a rigid layer of protetion.

my $.02

Very Good Point....
I actually was planning on a tinfoil wrap inside the shrink wrap for bags...
usually the tinfoil holds liquids..if wrapped right..just ideas throwing out there..since it seems that a lot of people want the flavor of the month...I am already working on my pumpkin spice for Oct.....
tasted like crap last night...but I have more time...got the pumpkin, not the spice..lol

As I'm sure you are aware...UPS and Fed-ex could screw up a we...er...they can destroy anything...even foil surrounder by plastic will burst when they drop a 70 pound box og machine parts on the cardboard box at the sorting facility. I've never had a plastic tub broken..YET.

I've had a couple plastic containers break in my orders (they were the cheap AF tubs). The bags inside have never broken for me though. I think the decreased rigidity of the bag would actually keep it from bursting. The only problem is that the bag needs to be maybe half again as large as it needs to be. This way the shisha could move around and it wouldn't burst when some weight is put on it. It just might work.

That might just work....put the flavour on the cheaper plastic tub so it shows through the higher quality jar...

seems like it would be a good idea except that a lot of people wouldn't be able to fill it locally what if you send back the packages and they reuse them and give you a discount on another package

i am not sure that would work well...shipping costs are on the rise and the more they are shipped, the more they break.
I am leaning towards the bladder idea, got off the phone just now with a company that will guarantee NO spillage or they pay me a very large amount of money per instance.
I am intriqued and waiting on samples...
will keep you informed, but if this works, flavor of the month club can begin in a couple of months...
I think I might even have found the flavor to start with.....
a pomegrante flavor sounds very good to me, just drank a tea at lunch today with pomegrante juice and loved it...will get it into a shisha asap and let you all know

bladder?

is that the wrong word? a very soft but extremely durable plastic..
ok..sorry to do this, but if your Seinfeld fan, you will know what I mean...
Kramerica....for the oil company to stop oil leaks would put a bladder into a ship's cargo hold to stop leakage...
does that explain it better?

Double vacuum sealed bags and you should be fine. I've found that during my fishing trips when I take lunch in a vacuum sealed bag, trying to cut it with a knife is a bitch. With this, I'm talking about the FoodSaver bags. These things are durable, strong, and you can get them in volume pricing. Granted, per bag is going to be a tad expensive (about $0.33 each), but for that extra bit of protection, I think it might be worth it.
