Switch
once and a while when im not getting "great" smoke, i try putting two coals on my hookah, and most of the time it doesnt really get harsh at all, but i find myself getting pukey sick. is this because of the extra CO? These are golden quick lights
jfaltous
It shouldn't be making you feel sick... when you place the coals on, are you making sure they're fully lit? I.e. no black on the coals, all grey ash all over?
Switch
yeah fully lit, i mean i can smoke normally two bowls in a row and be completly fine. But when i add that second coal i start to feel sick.
Luke69
I found the exact same thing and so has my friend. I switched to naturals and can smoke for 2 hours plus no problem. If you must you use quicklights though i found that three kings are the best for this issue.
mathuv
nausea? dizziness? fever? dehydration? the sweats? welcome to slight CO poisoning
gr!m
I use 40mm 3 kings and exoticas...I get sick from neither. I've also been using QLs longer than naturals. Might be the flavor and or it's getting burned. Also make sure you are either in a big room or it's well ventilated. I was paranoid of CO for a while so I sat the CO detector next to me...never went off and it goes off well below the levels that would even begin symptoms. mushrat
and with QL's..there are still chemicals IN the coals..even if they are completely lit...
austinthecity
If it makes you nauseous, it's the nicotine. If it makes you light-headed, it's lack of oxygen. If it gives you a headache, it's carbon monoxide poisoning.Either way, when you smoke, I suggest drinking a lot of dihydrogen monoxide. Scoop
dont use quicklights...personally i try not to use them ever.
hookah hippie
perhaps your not getting enough oxygen make sure that there are enough holes not covered by the coals so you can breathe in an adequate amount of air
Nikon1323
yea man make sure theres some good ventalization going because like the hookah bar here if you smoke downstairs you always get a headache because the smoke just sits around you....and drink some water....also if your using foil take a lighter over the foil to burn off any chemicals on it (i usually take my lighter over the whole tin foil kind of slowly to burn the chemials off it..aka treating the tin foil)....helps to not get headaches....give all that a try
Voski
what brand are you using? Iv noticed that certain brands give me the same effect too. If I have to use QLs I go with 3 kings.
EternalSoil
maybe dont put on another full coal? only do half or a quarter?and unless you buy some shit foil or the kind with the no stick surface (which wont hurt you, you fucking eat off it) there should be nothing wrong with foil that would make you have to burn chemicals off of it. Bushbr
it's been a while, but i remember this happening to me.try cutting a coal in half, and use 1 1/2 coals. that fixed the problem for me.
Switch
im smoking AF, its all i use. And its not a nicotine thing, cuz i smoke all the time, no problem. Its just when i add the second Quick Lite that it hits me. Im guessing its just the excess chemicals/CO in the extra coal. I would like to use natural coals, i just never smoke anywhere near a stove or fire

mj_b90
You sure as hell wouldn't try putting some food inside a plastic bottle and leaving it in a 450 degree oven for several hours though, would you? And, if the shiny side is so poisonous... why make sure that it touches your tobacco? Haha I'm pretty sure that both the top and bottom of a sheet of foil are gonna reach the same temp.QUOTE (mathuv @ Mar 1 2008, 01:48 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>QUOTE (EternalSoil @ Feb 29 2008, 05:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>maybe dont put on another full coal? only do half or a quarter?and unless you buy some shit foil or the kind with the no stick surface (which wont hurt you, you fucking eat off it) there should be nothing wrong with foil that would make you have to burn chemicals off of it.gonna have to disagree with you there slightly...here's an argument for ya. you drink out of plastic bottles but it sure as fuck isnt safe to smoke them.. but anyways in foil its usually the shiny side that contains the most chemicals so put shiny side down always
Majid
Like the others said, proper use of a quicklight coal :-Light it outside or by an open window, set it down on your ashtray untill it's fully lit and ashed over. -Place it/them on the outside of your bowl.-if you can, crack your window a bit wherever you are smoking-Don't overpack the bowl, you don't need that much tobacco for a good smoke.-Eat or drink while smoking
shotcaller88
My hookah came with some Rolland Instant-Lites. They seemed to light fine. However, I had a horrible headache afterwards. I've read similar complaints on this forum. I've had much better luck with three kings.
