J-thehookaholic
I'm starting to look into openning a hookah bar in upstate new york. I know the smoking ban makes it difficult if not impossible to do this. I was wondering how the ones in the NYC have opened since the ban? If anyone has any info please let me know.was thinking:place big enough for 50 people15-20 flavorswant to set up near a college, BYOB policy or not worth the trouble? shoulinmonk
im not sure if you have picked a location yet, but Ithaca, NY would be a good bet. Both Cornell and Ithaca in the same town, with no hookah bars in the area

It's actually pretty easy to get info if you are willing to be patient. Most places WANT you to start a business because they get to make money off you for taxes, permits, lisences, you name it, you'll be shelling out cash for it... I don't mind the lisences and that, I just don't want to open up for a month and spend the next year in court fighting over a product that is legal. jordanneff
I'm not too familiar with new york really, but regarding the BYOB thing I'd advise against it. The last thing you need are a bunch of drunks near hot coals >.< And just in general you don't need alcohol to enjoy a good smoke
