You're writing a term paper on this?

Alive
The Dali Lama, Irvine Welsh, Nelson Mandela.
- The most interesting and enriching conversation.

Dead
Niccolo Machiavelli, Voltaire, and Friedrich Nietzsche.
- I think they'd be the best choices for reaching a better understanding of truth about we humans and the world we live in.

Fictional
Roland Deschain, Gandalf the Grey, Patrick Bateman.
- Can't really say.

1) not a person but a group, The founding fathers of this country, it'd be great to be able to pick their brains in person and see what they the of country now.

2) Eve - no not the music arists the bitch that got us kicked out of the garden of eden......why did you have to do it?

3) Angelina Jolie - Just so I could ask how she likes toking on my pipe

Alive: GW Bush (May not like the guy as pres, but he reminds me of my goofy ass friends in HS) and pretty much anyone from the local music scene in Northern CO (Have done this with a few already, I love to discuss music with people)

No longer living: I'm stealing Chrome's answer here.

Fictional: Rand al'Thor, Mat, and Perrin. So I'm a WoT nerd.

Alive: Abbas Kiarostami, Noam Chomsky and Leila Khaled

Dead: Yasujirō Ozu, Akira Kurosawa and Karl Marx

Fictional: The Man With no Name (Clint Eastwood's "Joe" character) Young-soo Oh (the monk from "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring") and Kambei Shimada (From "The Seven Samurai")

But if I could chose only three people (dead, alive or fictional together) this would probably be the list:

Karl Marx, Akira Kurosawa and Noam Chomsky

(Assuming any of these people would be into it...)
Dead: Carl Sagan, Buddha, Douglas Adams
Alive: David Cross, Neil Gaiman, Seth Rogen
Fictional: Gandalf (I'd love for him to teach me how to blow a ship), Spider Jerusalem, Malcolm Reynolds

Fictional: Captain Canuck, Yuri Orlov, God

nice.

anyways...on to my lists

alive- scott lucas from local h, Greg Graffin from Bad Religion, and my roommate...In my interactions with lucas, it seems like he'd be pretty badass to chill with. Bad Religion's been my favorite band for like 8 years now, so it'd be nice to meet up with him, and my roommate refuses to smoke shisha, even though i've been trying to convince him for like 2 years, so i really want to smoke with him.
dead- John Coltrane, Max Roach, and Charlie Mingus. i'd bust out the guitar and get a quartet going while we're passing the hose
fictional- waldo from where's waldo, Gob from arrested development, and yurtle the turtle...

+1
I love all three

Alive: Voltaire(the musician, met him and he's a great guy, had the oportunity to drink with him, but was underage at time), Jeff Rense( www.rense.com ), Roger Waters...if I could have a fourth, I would take Zechariah Sitchin, who wrote the book The Twelveth Planet

Dead: Syd Barrett(imagine talking to the acided out founder or pink floyd, I'd love to probe his mind), King Solomon(c'mon, part of the founding of free macenry and this nation), Galileo

Fictional: Tengri (from the book Baqca, you gotta read it, amazing shamanistic story of fiction involving christianity), The Hardy Boys ( just imagine smoking with them and the stories), and of course the catepillar from Alice in Wonderland
