Need Some Suggestions..

Alright so I got myself a Mya Diva hookah, and some Starbuzz (Strawberry and Kiwi)

I've been able to get the strawberry to smoke decently, but not quite nearly as good as my local hookah lounge. As for the Kiwi it's all been hit and miss, mainly miss.

I get a bit of a soapy taste out of the Kiwi, and I assure you my hookah has no soap residue and is nice and clean.

I figure I must be doing something wrong but I can't find out for the life of me.

When I see tutorials on how to pack a bowl all I find are before and after pics, none of the actual process.. alot appear to be overflowing with shisha but you don't want the stuff to burn to the foil correct? I've tried packing a little, a bit more, sprinkling, packing it down some.

I use 3 kings instant light coals for now. Ice in my base, 1-1.5" of water, and i'm getting a semi burnt / soapy chemical taste.

And so i'm here to ask for advice, I don't want to waste any more bowls of Shisha - especially starbuzz as this stuff is pricey. Any help and/or comments would be greatly appreciated.

(and yeah you're probably read something like this a million times but i've been following tutorials and got no better luck.)

well, to be honest, the kiwi is pretty gross imo. so you may not be doing anything wrong lol.

the shisha can cake onto the bottom of the foil, not a big deal.

try packing more, or more heat.

I have never had SB kiwi, so I cant talk from experiance with that particular shisha, but a soapy taste often means that your tobacco has too much glycerine in it. When you pack a bowl sprinkle it in untill its just a bit over the lip and pad it down a bit before you foil it. Make sure that the foil is tight, and be sure to experiment with your hole configuration. Also, like Scoop said, try different amounts of heat. Hope this helps.

ya kiwi SB sucks. If you want good kiwi try getting African Kiwi from Al Waha. That's the best kiwi i've smoked.

Ya, try buying new coals (the one's you light on a stove) such as the sultan Japanese coals.

Grab the shisha from the bottom where it's the wettest and sprinkle in to the rim (no higher or the coals will burn the top of the shisha and will get harsh faster).

For more smoke just keep adding heat, and make sure your hookah is air tight.

btw-starbuzz is good when it is first open but the more it sits out, the worse it gets and looses a lot of it's flavor. AF lasts the longest i think.

ive found that with the exception of tangiers if you fluff the shisha and pull the foil tight over it along with lots of tiny holes youll be ok
