A Little Less Hate For America

no i imply that instead of critisizing our country (which theres plenty of posts to do) we could at least honor the people who serve our country, but it seems i was wrong.

mods when you get a chance lock the thread. its sad to see some people cant go into a thread supporting our troups and not critique our nation.

Actually the critiquing and debate is highly American. The problem is that there isn't enough of it, b/c these days if you question anything you're labeled as unpatriotic and I think thats ridiculous. The ones who unpatriotic seek to squash debate.

I support the troops, the brave souls that risk there life to fight bush's war, they are truely heroes and i wish we didn't have to see so much american blood shed for such meaningless reasons. but none the less i think just about everyone in american supports and thanks the troops or at least they say they do.

another reasons i have my feelings do some research on people like camilo and i doubt hes the only one, that stuff disgust me. i dont care if signed up 10 years ago or yesterday if you go over there serve and choose for what ever reason that you rather not kill people or have anything to do with the war they should let you, you can argue all you want that its there fault for signing up by peoples minds change , just how i feel ... This whole "Not Supporting Troops" thing is very far off. America is not "Our Troops". America is everything mixed together making one whole [problem].

I support the soldiers. I really do. But not what they do. I want them to come back safe, i don't feel any hate towards them. They don't deserve to die (unless they just have a passion for killing people with brown skin which i'm sure some have).

Supporting the troops is relative. Some support "The Troops" with the idea of eradicating the Taliban.
Others support the "freeing" of the Middle East.
Others support Democracy.
And the ones who Support the Troops for the simple aspect of wanting them to be safe are in the right. That is truly "Supporting the Troops". That's how every single person should feel.

Some look at it as a job though. A way to make Money in order to got to college. They come from poorer families and in reality serving is one of the best ways to go to College. You can even focus on learning one skill and pursue that as a career when you are out. Alot of people did not think "Hey, i'm gonna join the army so i can go fight those damn A-rabs!". They wanted a way to become successful in life, not go over and kill Taliban and search for ghosts.

yep and we would have about 1/4 the soldiers if we gave them the option if they want to go over there or not? is that right. seems to many people are forced to do it for one reason or another, but i guess we can all blame them for signing up, but all i hope is that we get as many as we can home safe.

Canon... broseph... did you really expect a discussion about the US wherein no one mentioned any problems or criticisms? You imply that people in the "Hate of America" thread "hate America" for expressing doubts, concerns, suspicions and criticisms of national policy... but the real people who are doing a disservice to your country and the ideals it was built on, are the ones helping it crumble by denying any question or criticism of what it's become.

im sorry bro and i see what you wanted and think everyone supports the troops, but to many people are riding this rollar coaster and just yell i support the troops and close there eyes to whats really happening, what people higher up in society are really doing, theres nothing wrong with this but im sorry i can't just run around and circles closing my eyes pretending out troops are being "used" for the right reasons. I support them and i hope we can bring as many of them back as soon as possible but face it our gov. is "using" these people and taking away there rights, they have no longer become people, there troops that the gov controls ...

yep people love making them selves feel like better people by chanting i support the troops, do you actually really care about those people? if you did you would be trying your hardest to get them home safe .. im done people are set in there own ways and will continue to close there eyes and get a sick pride out of "support our troops", which to most people doesn't go beyond saying the words(which just saying/thinking it does nothing, absolutely nothing!) The ability to question unethical and immoral government practices is precisely what your troops are (ostensibly) fighting for... standing ovations and praise might help their egos, but what these people are doing by challenging problems and raising criticisms, is supporting your troops.

i know most of you hate America, if you do this is not your thread to post in, I'm not sorry. i serve in this great nation. i have dedicated at least 4 years of my life to serve, and to take for granted what we are doing is an American privilege. There have been many and will be many more to die to keep the nation free, whether that be from terrorists or an enemy nation, we train for the worse but hope for the best. I can say this, unless you have close family/friends in the military or have been in it yourself you really have no idea what its like, the sacrifices that we make. heres a tribute to our soldiers.
