Got my Stargate in the mail!

Recommended Posts

I bought a 2 hose stargate in the Black Nickel finish.

This thing is AMAZING!

Anyone that is considering buying another hookah should contact Samir right now.

I havent smoked it yet, but the quality of the parts far exceeds what I
expected, and what I would have been happy with. Not to mention the
thing is gorgeous! (and it matches the decor in my room... )

I had an idea. Since the stem is collapseable.. would it be possible to purchase another stem section, and make it taller?

Just a thought!

A buddy came over, and we smoked it with my parents. Much smoother than
my other hookah, and a really nice draw! Not to mention it feels very
sturdy(which is nice considering the ash tray on my eqyptian rattles
around.

We tried Al Amir Honey Dew Melon. Really dense white opaque smoke- but
not a whole lot of flavor. It should be mixed with something.

But... I HAVE A PROBLEM!

On the bottem of the stem, where the little thing screws on(to extend
the stem into the water in the base), the male threads are a different
size and thread pitch than the female threads inside the stem. They are
too small. I got it to seal with some teflon tape, and just screwing it
on a little. However, I know this is not right. Perhaps I was sent the
peice for a mini-stargate or something?

Im going to PM Samir about the problem, so im sure he'll take care of me. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same issue

MY STARGATE HAS ARRIVED!
Just pulled it out of the box, and I really like this hookah! Completly collapsable, you can make a mini hookah with out using any of the stem, or just one section of it. YOU GUYS IM IN LOVE and i havnt even smoked out of it yet. I agree with hookahduck, if you are considering buying a hookah, get this badboy. Samir has been a great help and a real good guy, Thanks again Samir!!

I have PM'd taqseem about the problem, but he still has not responded.

Have you noticed that this this wears quite quickly? The finish on the
inside of the ashtray has gotten damaged, and cold ash is all that has
sat on it. Also, the plexiglass threads are wearing(dust when its
unscrewed), and the stem gets zinc deposits all over from the
water(inside the stem).

Im using the papper towel trick for the the thread issue, but I know is going to get increasingly worse as it starts to strip.

Im starting to think twice about this thing.

First off, take a deep breath and chill.  I have had this hookah
for I think a month or so now, smoked it a lot, and it is fine.
You cannot expect something to remain pristine forever.  Regarding
your worries:

1)The finish on the inside of the ashtray - all of my ashtrays
(stainless, this one, and a cheapy-I-don't-know-what-it's-made-of) are
worn in one way or another.  That ash you are dropping down is not
COLD.  Cooler, maybe, compared the heat you have on the coals, but
it is sitting on that heat until the moment you knock it off.  Not
a big deal anyway, IMHO.

2)Threads - mine also shed a little dust when I take it apart.
Again, not a big deal.  The more I have used it, the less residue
I've gotten.  It's just getting broken in.  The paper towel
trick you mentioned was Yashman19's deal.  The reason he did that
is because he said he probably pulled off the stem from the base before
the threads were all the way off, and wore them out prematurely.
His stem does not come to a stop once screwed on, so that's why he did
this.  I have put mine together and taken it apart many times, and
it is just fine.

3)Zinc deposits inside the stem - I'm not so sure that is zinc, but I
know what you are talking about.  Copper oxidizes.  Doesn't
rust or anything, just oxidizes.  When it does this, it prevents
more oxidation.

Now, if you are one of those people who has to have everything you own
remain in perfect shape until the day you die, that is a different
story.  I know guys who keep their tools perfect, for
example.  They clean them before they work on the car, they clean
them after they work on the car, and if (God forbid) one of them gets
damaged, they cry like a little girl.  I understand keeping tools
free of grease and what not so that they perform as they should, but
Jesus tap-dancing Christ, THEY ARE TOOLS FOR GOD'S SAKE!  The
hookah is a tool as well.  It is a tool for getting that
wonderful, flavorful smoke from the ma'assell into your mouth and
lungs.  Use it, keep it clean, but above all ENJOY IT.  It is
not going to last you forever, my friend.  If it ruins your
smoking experience to know that the tray is a little scratched, the
stem is a little oxidized, and the base threads wear out over time,
maybe you should pick a different hobby.  If you can get past all
of this, and enjoy the hookah for what it is and for what it does, you
will be a much happier, more relaxed smoker.
Haha. Well I am a freak about keeping my tools clean.

But, my main issue here is with the lowest part that screws into the
stem is the wrong thread. *That* is a serious issue. I recieved the
wrong part, and I still have not recieved a reply from samir.
Yeah, you are right there.  I hope he sorts it out for you.  I am sure he will.  Good luck!

One of the first things I did was rub a little vaseline on the
plexiglass threads.  It definately reduced the friction caused
there.
I noticed the deposits inside the stem too but I assumed it was because i typically dont clean up until before my next session.

Yeah, after about a month of solid use, I'll fill my sink up with super
hot soapy water, and soak all the pieces of my stargate in there for
about 30 minutes, then use a cleaning brush to get all that gunk outta
the stem. After that, the inside is super smooth and slick.
the main shaft part of my stargate still seems fused together.  it
seems like a total bitch to take apart too.  any tips on breaking
it loose?
Hmm, dont have much experience with this with my Stargate. I guess try
using any other similar techniques when trying to open a stuck pickle
jar? As in soak it in hot water for a while?

Good luck with that mang.

I havent had any problems with it sticking together.  Id put some
sort of lubricant in there once you get it open as with all the
threaded spots.. Definately reccomend using some vaseline or petroleum
jelly on the plexiglass threads.
