Operation Iraqi Freedom Memorial Thread

3974 men and women have died in Operation Iraqi Freedom and the number continues to grow.

These are the heroes that have given their lives, for whatever reason you believe they have, to protect ours.

I dont care if you dont support the mission, but let's show our love for these heroes.

My heart goes out to every single one, and their families.

With this post, I want a message directed toward our troops. Use this as your personal letter to them. DO NOT post about foreign policy. I'm going to do my best not to and expect everyone who posts on this to do the same. If you have a foreign policy critical response, start another thread please. If you decide to post on foreign policy anyway, you will effectively be cutting everyone else off who may want to post legitimately on this thread. I will have the thread locked. Now that the rules are clear, I will start.

*************To the American Military:*************

I absolutely support you guys 100%. I appreciate the level to which you have chosen to sacrifice so that all of us, American or otherwise can speak freely, post freely, and conduct ourselves freely. While all of us may not agree that the reasons for you to be where you are are sound, we all respect your dedication to our country. None of us can wait until the day you step foot on the plane that brings you back here.

Sincerely and with much love,

Eddie AKA Bulldog_916

You're doing the best you can in the situation you've found yourself, and for that I commend you.

*************
To the Iraqi People, current death toll Well Over 1,000,000, not including death from injuries, illness, displacement, lack of access to food or water, lack of access to healthcare, or unemployment.
*************

I'm at a loss for words. Sorry.

I applaud your efforts, and the intent behind it.

I will add the 175 UK soldiers, and marines, and 133 from other coalition nations.

The US figures are artificially deflated. They do not include any DNB (177 as of the last figures I saw, about Nov), nor do they include anyone that died out of country. If a wounded person died, at one of the hospitals, usually of complications after more than 24 hours, then they are not listed.

There have been 28,833 wounded service men from the USA.

As for the Iraqi people... how many were killed by their fellow Iraqis? 1M... well, that's still 500,000 less than estimates of the total Saddam killed while in power, sounds like they are getting the deal of a lifetime!

This is only a warning, but I dont want foreign policy discussion on this thread. I made it for a reason and please abide by it. This is an open letter to the soldiers who are currently fighting in Iraq. This is only to transmit your feelings/thanks/love for the troops to them directly. I think this is the VERY least we can do to have them know how we feel without calling into question their mission. I know we have a few vets and current troops on this board. So please show your love without policy discussion. Edited by Bulldog_916

Yeah. Whether you agree with the mission or not they chose to sacrifice their lives fighting for this country. Thank you to not just the soldiers involved in Operation Iraqi Freedom but to every single soldier in the Coalition.

To the brave men and women of the american army,

You are nuts if you think that theres anyone in there right mind that doesn't like/appreciate/thank/love the soldiers, when people disagree with the war it doesn't mean they have anything against you guys. I find myself in that situation and i still tear up watching videos showing soldiers and there families ect. You men and women are some of the bravest I know, I just hope as many of you can come home soon! And to all the dead soldiers you have my prayers and you won't ever be forgotten.

I Support The Troops, Not the War
