So, after about half a millenium of developement, it seems that SCII is going to be released "in the near future". Here's a link of some screens: http://www.battle.net/forums/thread.aspx?f...amp;#post630141
What do you think? I kind of cringed after seeing them...

Please tell me I'm not the only sc geek on the forum ;D

Maybe I will be the first to say it, and quite possibly the last, but here it goes.

FUCK GRAPHICS!

Seriously folks, I'm tired of everyone wanting these beautiful graphics. Why? Because almost always gameplay and story is sacrificed. Hell, half the time game makers can't even make a usable UI or combat system, let alone a multiplayer system that works, but hot damn, the graphics look good!

Who gives a fuck. If SCII has good gameplay and story, the controls are fluid and the MP is supported (and the bugs fixed before release!) then I will be snug as a bug.

But if it's just another buy-now-throw-away-in-a-week game, fuck it. I'm tired of playing a game for 3 or 4 hours, which is about how long it takes for the pretiness to grow old. The last game that had a good story and good graphics was Call of Duty 4, and that's pretty fucking rare.

One of my all time favorite games was Neverwinter Nights 1. The graphics sucked even back in 2001. Guess what, I still play it today. Was the $80 I spent worth it? Hell yes.

It's true.

It will use something similar to the original starcraft interface, so it will probably be quite usable. Blizzard always does a good job on the story (or at least the cinematics).

I'd given up on waiting for this one a while ago. Good to see some positive news on it. Edited by St. Goodypants

+1
That's why I wrote that I cringed. What I saw on the screenshots is too... shiny? What I did like was that the units are now bigger. Easier to micromanage happy.gif I just hope this will not turn out to be like GH3 in terms of requirements. After seeing what I needed to run it, I opted for getting a used PS2.

This may be one of the very few games I actually buy. Nonetheless, I'll download it to try first ;D Edited by erufiku

Starcraft 2 FTW, but Diablo 3, *MOAN* =]

It doesn't look like it's going to be that graphics intensive.

It's confirmed that it needs Pixel Shader 2.0, and it doesn't look that intensive graphically. Blizzard usually makes their games compatable with a nice range of system requirements.

You'll probably only need a 128mb GeForce 6600/Radeon 9600 or better to run it.

Come to think of it, all the games I am waiting for are sequels...

Starcraft II
Diablo III
Fallout 3 (just under a year to go... I hope)
... and although there is not much hope left, XCOM Alliance

Dude they've been working on this game for ten years tongue.gif

Blizzard doesn't release anything until it's pretty much perfected. It'll be awesome.

*falls over laughing*

Seriously though, I am to very very hyped about this release. Looks great and hopefully it will be great playing. As long as they manage to hang onto the strenghts of SC I, balance and feeling.

It's as big a sport over there as... what do you play in New York, street hockey?

They have like 9 starcraft stadiums in South Korea. Even commentators get paid more than movie stars. The kid that won that tournament is only 15 and he's already a multimillionaire between prize money and sponsorships.

tongue.gif it's actually entertaining to watch if you play the game. I only play it an hour or two a month, but even I have fun watching. Edited by gaia.plateau

Ive had this game pre ordered for months now. Can't wait. I'm a huge SC fan.

My only concern has been that the 1st one was such a great game. Blizzard is gonna have to make this new one at least as good if not better. Hopefully they can pull it off. But Blizzard seems pretty good about putting out good stuff. They are usually willing to delay a game to make sure it doesn't come out like crap.

I am sure everyone and their mother has already seen the trailers floating around the internet. But for those of us that have been living under a rock for the past few years (myself included), here is the link to watch gameplay trailers: http://www.gametrailers.com/game/4868.html

I changed my mind about the graphics. Thinking about saving up some green and actually buying a new computer just to play it. SCII + PC bundle anyone?

The graphics are incredible, now that the demos are out you can see it actually looks like you're playing in some twisted sci-fi oil painting; Zerg structures are especially fantastic.

Loved playing Zerg way back when... I'm wishing that Blizzard will make them a bit more powerful than in the original - they were hella hard to play when matched up against an apt Terrain

No. You're wrong.

You just need to keep them so off balance that they can't produce enough siege tanks and you're good. It's rediculously easy then.

I play zerg. Lots of zerg. Edited by St. Goodypants

Blizzard still hasn't released specs... As it stands with the graphics/physics looking like they do, I'd say that you would want at least a geforce 6600gt or radeon x1300 with 128+mb video ram and a p4 3.0ghz
or better with 1gb of system RAM to run it well.
