SimplexCoda
So I have been wondering...whats the difference between Japanees coals and natural coals? Do Japs quailify as naturals? Which do you guys think are better?
austinthecity
japs are a medium between QLs and natural. They still heat up on a stove or with a torch, but faster than naturals. They have a silver coating to help the heating process..
mitchell8621
Just go with the Naturals...I just find the silver coating a bit odd...
SimplexCoda
I have heard about the silver coating and it seems a little....well a little unsafe. This is part of the reason I dont use quicklights because of the chemicals they use to make them light faster. Oh ya btw, I can get my naturals to light on my electric stove. Shifty
I find the electric coil burners are definitely the way to go for lighting anything non QL. I picked up the 10 dollar coil burner from walgreens. (http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=302575&navAction=jump&navCount=0&skuid=sku350528&id=prod350527) And it works like a charm. Turn it on and set the coals there while I do my setup. Flip them over after about 4 minutes, finish the setup, 8-10 minutes they are red hot and ready to go. Excellent way to go if you don't want to keep buying fuel for your torches and such.
