Ssb:brawl!

Unrelenting

Recommended Posts

I never reserve, and today I went to the mall with my buddy, and we needed a game(even though the power has been out for like 20 hours at the time) so I asked if they had any "spare copies" of Brawl, and they said reserve only. everywhere, but one store had only reserves, I was like WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ORGASMMMMMMM. But then I got home and, stillll no power

still doesnt beat the 360 launch day, had a thunderstorm, got home, took my dog out, then the power goes out. I cried

As usual Nintendo has decided to fuck all europeans (and australians) over. Luckily the Freeloader for Wii will be out march 14th. Pre-ordered a copy of this, and videogame+ should be sending my copy of Brawl from Canada today. Needless to say I'm really looking forward to this, SSBM is probably the game I played for the longest time on GameCube (2002 - still playing it against friends every now and then).

Mario Kart will be out in europe in April (and probably Q3 in the US), looking forward to that too. Edited by Balthazar

I decided to drive 2 hours(both ways) today to pick the game up. I've unlocked about 5 characters and messed around online a bit. I gotta say, online is nintendos shortcoming. They should have looked at the xBox systems set up and copied it.

Its laggy as hell, which is to be expected but there are no player names. Just says "p1" "p2" etc over everyones heads... Hopefully the sort this out.

My only complain so far is that "wave-dashing" was removed. It was actually a glitch but made the game much more fast paced, and I'm sad to see it go. I read it was removed because "it went against physics". I guess nintendo forgot about the giant fire breathing dragon which follows your ever command, and yet fits into a small ball the size of a softball. GG logic..

My friend code is 5327-0619-1329

True about Ninendo and online. I've also heard that communication is a real hassle. In Mario Kart you won't even be able to form your own sentences, only choose pre-made ones (and knowing Nintendo they'll probably be pretty lame tongue.gif). Out of fear of pedophile harassment or something ... :/

Oh well. SSB-games are made to be played with friends anyways, at least in my opinion. No way it would be as fun without seeing the other players reactions.

I get ~.1 seconds of delay playing against local(citywise) friends. There are no slow downs when playing w/o items. Double clicking your mouse is ~.12 seconds.

Wave dashing was the core of the higher level play. Leaving you with certain characters that are better suited to be played. They were going for balance by nerfing only. The game is significantly more balanced in 4 player ffa mode than melee.

Smash Brawl is awesome and the gamecube controller makes it play just like Smash Bros. Melee. I wish the Wi-Fi mutliplayer wasn't glitchy/dysfunctional... at least with the Quick Matches, not the friend code ones.

Meh, as I'm playing I like the game less and less. They've removed all the skill involved in Meele from Brawl. I'll still play through it all, but I'm not sure how much further I will go past that.

My roommate is a nintendo freak. He got it Sunday and we got nearly all the characters already. My favorite character is Ike. Slow as all hell but powerful too. Takes a bit of skill to time everything correctly with him.

I preordered a couple of months back. I've been having fun playing. But I also have tons of people to play with. It's not fun to me playing alone.

As far as controllers go, I think GameCube is the best way to go. I picked up a few when I picked up the game. Also to my surprise, the nunchuck/wiimote combo works pretty well if you don't have any GameCube controllers.

For me it's

Gamecube > Wiimote/nunchuck > Classic > Wiimote

And I agree Nintendo fails with online play. Can't really communicate and the friend code thing needs to go.
