erufiku
Couldn't be happier with my new KM Ice Chamber, but my old windcover doesn't fit. Just barely covers the bowl, which defeats the purpose of using it. Anyone recommend a real tall windcover that will fit my pipe? I've made a temporary one out of tin foil but it just mars the aesthetic aspect.
mitchell8621
the foil makes it look authentic...keep going with that
austinthecity
the two common choices are:Find a coffee can or another type of can that has about the same size diameter of your windcover - barely bigger. Cut the coffee can so it's about 4 inches tall, and hollow on both sides. Then slip your wind cover into the coffee can to use as an "extender"Wrap aluminum foil around a wine bottle for shape and height, and use this as a windcover. chinamon
ive never used a windcover even though i have one here still in the plastic wrapper.
Voski
put your tongs right under the bowl so it is wrapped around the neck. Then put the windcover on the tongs. I'll take a picture of what I'm trying to say.
neu318
Worldhookah has a large taj mahal wind cover. I bought a phunnel bowl and they suggested getting the large one. Edited March 11, 2008 by neu318
erufiku
Yes, the fez hat thing looks like it might work. Where did you find it?
jfaltous
scott, you missed the point of that specific wind cover... you dont need anything to lift it the idea of that one is it sits directly on the head of the bowl. i cant say how effective it is though for i've never used one. i bet it would get pretty hot though and it looks like it has no handle :\

You Would have to lift it up and it would be hot as hell. Im just saying if I was going to buy this I would have to make a little handle. I like how it sits directly on the bowl and I think it would be almost perfect for the KM/Phunnel bowl combo.

jfaltous
Nothing, it just gets hot as hell and there's no handle to take it off easily.

Its a nice looking Cover, but i'd rather see some pics of this actually on a phunnel before I bought it though. Wouldnt mind knowing how much space there is for the heat. jfaltous
tongs + that windcover = disaster waiting to happen From the looks of it you'd only be able to grip it from the bottom with tongs, just begging for it to slip and fall on your hand or something Even with the one that I have that comes with a handle I use the tongs to grip the handle. iamscott06
I do have some tongs with a small rod that came with my bambino. I might beable to fit it in one of those small holes to lift it up..

jfaltous
Hah sounds even sketchier... I'd probably stick to my normal method of using a dish towel or something to grip it.

iamscott06
Yea but this certain windcover we are talking about doesnt have a spot on top to do that.
Canon
what im saying is if his windcover is like that one he can continue using it, it doesnt take away if its touching the coals, i assume he has that cover because its the cheapest and most common freebies. he can continue using it. it will always serve the purpose
jfaltous
The one I use lately is the large Taj, meaning no hole at the top nor handle, and smooth all the way around So tongs are useless! Down with the tongs!
