Shipping Shisha

Recommended Posts

ok..so I sent samples out to a lot of you already.. I am realizing that over the last set of months to make the shisha, I never really thought about how to send the samples, they are losing flavor in the shipment. Spoke with a couple of really cool guys yesterday who liked the smoke, but wasn't being hit with alot of flavor, but when I got back to the warehouse, digged and brought home a couple of flavors to smoke, they all tasted great....
so. suggestions on how to wrap or pack shisha?
let's think in the 50 gram size so I can perfect this and send out some new samples to see if I can perfect the shipping.
I promise, when all of this is done, there is going to be a brand new shisha on the market.
to the post about the kilos...shoot me a note.
thanks...

50 grams usually come wrapped in plastic, but not sealed. It might make a big difference if it were sealed plastic bags, airtight.

i know how most come, wrapped in parchement paper or wax paper.
is this the best method for keeping moist is my big question?
I was thinking of wrapping with said parchment paper but then wrapping in a shrink wrap machine. therefore sealing with plastic?
good idea?

Think Simple.

Just pack it into something airtight and watertight. You can't really go wrong.

Either Zip-lock style or Something that can be Heat-Sealed at the top.

when I sealed it with a seal a meal...it sucked to much of the fluid's out
zip lock is questionable to me, any pressure and it will burst..double bag is an option..just not to safe feeling for me....since this isn't for one package, this is for all my shisha......

I take it your looking for full automation?

If not - You can heat seal it by hand thus expelling the air, leaving the juice so bursting should not be an issue.

HookahHookah uses small plastic screw-top jars, which I really like. This might be cost-prohibitive for you, though.

I am looking more for partial if not full automation..but I am looking for effectiveness....I want the quality to get to you...not just be here in my building...
sooo....
I would imagine the heat seal while pushing air out would not be to efficient..but maybe you could elaborate for me.
thanks so much also, for helping me. All I want is the best product and customer service(something I believe this country is lacking in right now)

Actually, I think plastic jars are pretty cheap for a case. However, if you're planning on using these just for samples, then the little plastic bags would be much cheaper to ship. I recommend using the jars once you're done sending out samples though. Edited by bassman65

The standard for shisha packaging is a plastic type bag. Buy a couple different brands and check out how they have packaged it. Normally it consists of a sealed plastic bag. The only one that's wrapped in wax/parchment paper is nakhla which is fine considering how it's oily more than it is juicy.

I never got my samples either!....

anyway, I have to agree with the HH type jars. They are small, airtight and easy to ship. I use my old HH jars for other baccy storage...

I have sent out for samples of smaller screw top jars...that will work for the 250 gram amounts...but I am testing a bit more with the parchment/wax paper shrink wrapped twice for freshness. would you guys rather have the hand packed process or an automated system?
thanks again....

Well a big thing is, you should perfect the packing technique before making it automated. The automation will guarantee consistency in the packing but hand doing it adds a little bit of personal flair. Try different things out.

never got any of my samples that you said i would get too. i am wondering ifthe way they were packaged caused a problem with the post office leaky packaging. i know a few items that i have sent have gotten thrown out due to this. but it is a precautionary measure

That is one of my thoughts...once I decide on the new method of shipping and it is semi-tested(will do a sample ship to myself)I will then resend all the people who have gotten and who haven't gotten samples will get new samples. will keep you all informed here...
