Coal and shisha duration

Recommended Posts

It all depends on the brand, for both coals and ma'assel.

With that short of a coal duration, I'm guessing you are using quicklights?

As for ma'assel, I only really know a lot about Al Fahker and Al Waha.
Al Waha tends to last 40-50 minutes of solid flavor, and another 20
minutes of decent smoke.

As for Al Fahker, I get roughly 50-60 minutes of solid flavor and
another 30 minutes of ok flavor and decent smoke. Then the smoke just
fizzles out.

Some people will argue that they can smoke a single bowl for 2-3 hours,
which I think is bullsh*t. I bet they are still getting some smoke and
crap flavor, but keep it going for some reason.

Just out of curiosity, what type of coal were you using? The only
quicklights I've used were 3Kings, and even they lasted around 30-35
minutes, until they were too small to be of any use.

Yash, how in the flip do you get such long smokes?  What is your
technique exactly?  I can rarely go past maybe 45 minutes with a
bowl.  I suddenly feel sofa king we todded.

Yash -

I've definately smoked a bowl for like 2 hours before.  I have a
really big Egyptian bowl that holds about 25-30g of ma'assel and i use
like 6 3Kings over the duration.  I dont puff really hard, and
about halfway through I open up the bowl and flip over the ma'assel,
which really helps.  A little drizzle of honey also helps restore
the smoke quality.

I agree with you - I usually have to switch my 3 kings coal after about 25 minutes and then I am able to go another 15-20 minutes longer and thats it. I have also talked to people who say they can smoke for 1.5 / 2 hours a bowl and they tell me the steps and I carefully put it together right but 45 minutes is still tops for me - it has no flavor and it gets harsh after that point.

I can get about an hour and a half out of a "party" bowl filled with Al
Amir, using 2 Golden's to start, and another one about 45 minutes later.

I can keep building smoke after this, but I only smoke the ma'assel during its peak flavor.

Al Amir blackberry = sex.

30 mins top!! on the coal + shisha. using either AF or nakhlah dunno
why seeing as AF has so much more texture and well alot more punch.
i do take very hard pulls and long ones. dont really stop. once i had
burnt out about 25 grams of AF mixed fruit in less than 20 mins. i
think it was 17 mins. still it was great sh*t while it lasted

3 kings coal only coal around ma area, but local lebanese food shop
across the road lend me some nour finger coals every so often in times
of need. still i cant really tell a great difference.exept sometimes
with the kings i have charcoal in ma mouth from sucking to hard.

With the 3kings I use, each coal lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to 40. I normally put 3 coals a bowl with a mid-sized bowl. My friends and I smoke for an hour and a half minimum, up to 2 and a half (sometimes if it's a bigger bowl we use 4 coals). I use Al Amir and Nahkla. The Al Amir always lasts as long as the coals, the Nahkla on the other hand usually craps out at an hour and a half.Jon
