mattarios2
After comming to the conclusion that tinfoil is what dries my throat out, i tried a few different things to see if it would help : tried store brand foil, rather than reynolds, I tried double layer, I tried heating the foil before use, and I tried using the non shiney side of the foil. None worked and all caused my throat to dry up after the first pull, leaving my hookah sessions undesirable. Therefore I am going to have a custom tray made for the phunnel that has a little bit of a lip on the inside so it is somewhat air tight, and have specific hole patterns made with small holes so we avoid the ash falling in the shisha, something we all hate.My questions:1.) what hole pattern would you recommend for the best overall setup? Spiral? or 2 rows of holes around where the shisha sits and one bigger one in the middle?2.) any measurment anyone can give on the exact size of the holes I should have made3.) What material should I have them make it out of, they claimed they had just about everything.I am going to give them my bowl so they can do measurments and what not, but size of the hole would be a very nice piece of info if someone knows. Thanks guys,John
cypherkk
i'd say 1mm holes in 2-3 concentric circles and lots of them

Try using aluminum foil. You should be able to find it at any grocery store.
Stuie
I usually use a metal screen. But when I do use foil, I do one of two patterns:1. Four slits two large in the middle, two small on the outside, spaced evenly apart.2. Four line Astrix (* with an extra line) with 11 holes in each line. Those seem to work best for me using foil.Try using one of those or a metal screen as a design for your custom Screen.
