piperjason
Hey all,This is my first post here (I think) so HI everyone!I was introduced to hookah by a buddy of mine that I lived with for a while. A few weeks ago I dished out $17 for a mini "disco" pumpkin hookah at a local middle eastern grocery store. It actually works pretty well, even if the LEDs are kind of cheesy. Anyway I have two fundamental issues with it that lead into each other.1) the hose is short2) it isn't the most stable#1 caused an issue with #2 because on the second use someone got a little to enthusiastic with it and pulled it over. The burn mark on my heel is almost healed but the carpet hasn't...I went today to a local glass shop that sold hookahs and bought a nice long hose but of course it doesn't fit as the connector is too small. At that store they had some Sahara hookahs (a small genie bubble actually). I liked how it was so stable with a nice wide base. So right now I want to get a better hookah that addresses my concerns.I have been checking out the Mini Mya hookahs at hookah-shisha.com mainly the QT. I have read some of the reviews about them being hard to clean, and I really think the tray is hoky (that is actually another issue with my current one). After seeing the Sahara today I found some at hookah-hookah.com both the 19" and the 12" models. As a bonus the green models are on sale. I have read people have issues with their Sahara hookahs also though (stem only? is it easy to match a random bowl and stem?)So what I am looking for is a hookah that is around $50 plus or minus, stable, with a good hose length, and tray design and otherwise decent all the way around. Also nothing too big. I'm not looking for a giant pipe. 19" is probably as big as I want to go. Basically just looking to own one decent hookah that will last a while that I may smoke once on the weekend or so.What should I go for? One of those mini Mya hookahs? Sahara models? Something else I haven't come to yet? Thanks all.

Hookah_Bob3
if you're looking for something small and stable, I'd recommend a Mya QT. They're about $45, have a good standard mya hose, and will last you a long time

piperjason
Yeah... I kind of am getting that vibe after reading around this forum. It seems that the QT and the Bambino get great praise by everyone here. I just don't have any faith in this tiny pumpkin not falling over. a little tug and over it goes... it really should slide...Is it worth buying a base protector for the QT to add more protection? I understand that some have concerns about the bottom glass is thin. the description on h-s.com is:Large base sleeves will fit most hookahs between 26 - 30 inches. Small base sleeves will fit most hookahs between 20 - 24 inches.Small work? Edited March 15, 2008 by piperjason

EternalSoil
i wouldn't have gotten a base protector for the QT. the bottom is weird and bumpy.also the thing with the glass has been pretty much resolved. i haven't heard anyone have any problems recently.and a roll of foil is cheaper...
