I usually smoke AW, AF, Layalina, and Fusion. I liked the Pink Lemonade flavor from Fantasia, but that's all I've tried so far. Tangiers just hasn't been for me after going through Orange Soda, K-Peach, and Schnozzberry. I'm giving it one more try with Horchata, but my hopes aren't high.

I usually smoke out of my Syrian or my KM, but I do have a Mya QT around for when I'm feeling lazy.

go with melon blend instead

I'll give that a shot when I put in my next order.

This subject is starting to tick me off. Not because anyone is posting an opinion on it but because there is no american made shisha period. All shisha on the market is conming from other countries. The tobacoo is usually from the middle east or china and the flavoring/glycerian is european most likely france. Some compies, ie starbuzz, will bring the product to the US for packaging so that they can claim made in USA.
If you think I am wrong please provide proof like where is the plant that manufactures shisha in the US.
It's all about marketing. Made in US sounds a lot better than made in some foriegn country, especially a middle eastern one.
With that being said AF is the most reputable company with a high quality product. Most shisha from Dubai is pretty good as they have high standards.

I work for Tangiers. It's made 100% in San Diego, with american tobacco. Ask Eric, he's Mr. Tangiers.

This kind of irks me because you're assuming we care where the tobacco comes from. Around here, we don't care where it's from as long as it can provide consistent quality in terms of flavor, smoke, and an affordable price (that varies based on each individual's disposable income)

ive kinda been thinking along the same lines

wat does it matter? does it taste good? does it provide a good buzz?

i dont care if it came out of a russians but crack. if it tastes good and does something for me...fine by me

as long as its no worse for me than any other tobacco

HookaH-Hookah Tobacco and Hookah Freak are licensed manufacturers of Shisha tobacco in the united states.

There is a huge difference between true american shisha and traditional shisha. But that doesnt matter. what matters is what satisfies your taste buds

i smoke nakhla almost exclusively tongue.gif (thats because i cant get anything else here..) although i do treasure what little foreign tobacco i have. right now its fotm pink lemonade and some blueberry tangiers. to be honest i like them all. when im in the mood for something really sweet i smoke pink lemonade, when i feel like a regular smoke i smoke nakhla and when i feel like something more distinct and high quality, i've got tangiers

I've never had the American tobaccos (i still find it strange people call it shisha overthere biggrin.gif since shisha would mean either bottle or glass depending on where you are) Would love to try some but the prices seem very high, plus i'd have to import..I noticed a lot of trendy flavours. I wonder if mint mojito flavour actually tastes like a mojito.

When you think about it just about every part of american culture was stolen/adapted from other countries culture anways, it's just how our country was founded. But still it's not something I let influence my selection. I smoke probably 50% fumari because I can get it locally for cheap, and when I order online i'll get Nakhla, Tangiers, AF, SB, etc.... depends on what flavors i'm craving

I smoke both American and foreign made shisha and quite frankly, I like them both. If you only spring for one or the other, that's fine too. Dont be an elitist just because you're proud. Dont talk crap about other people's tastes because yours are different. Everyone is different, get used to it or shut up about it.

I suppose I should start off with announcing the fact that this is my first thread on this wonderful forum. I've looked around and didn't see this topic and it interests me to see everyones opinion. While kicking around the forums I noticed that everyone seems to smoke american brand shisha's. And everyone smokes out of a Mya Gyro but that's irrelevant. I haven't smoked American shisha in the two years that I've been smoking. To be honest this was mainly due to a biased opinion that Americans wouldn't know too much about producing quality shisha. So let me know, what do we think is superior and why? American Shisha (ie: Starbuzz, Fantasia, etc.) or Traditional Shisha (ie: Al-Waha produced in Jordan, Al-Amir produced in Saudi Arabia, etc.)

americans cant make anything "the right way" i am an israeli citizen but live here now and the shish i used to get back home in the markets was way better than anything i have been able to get from a mass produced company aside from the vast array of flavours

I believe fusion is made in USA. It claims to use Virginia tobacco.

Hmmmm. I thought Fusion was made in Jordan or the such? The only shisha I know of that claims Virginia Tobacco is Fantasia. Besides, I prefer the mellow character of Turkish Tobacco tongue.gif

True Eternal biggrin.gif

I personally think it's like comparing Cheddar to St Agar. True they are both cheeses but they are a world apart.

'American' tobacco's are more modern and probably appeal to the younger folks.

A lot of us who got started on things like Nahkla tend to find ourselves gravitating back towards it. Don't get me wrong I love the new flavours and stuff from places like Fusion, Starbuzz or Fumari [Modern tobacco's i've had direct and personal experience with]. But I do think it's like my analogy above.

Generally though I tend to allways keep Nahkla in the cupboard and probably smoke 50% nahkla and 50% others during the course of a week.

Good first topic by the way biggrin.gif

Mat is quiet Correct [As one of my european brothers].

We have a two fold problem here Deathwish in that we either pay quite a lot of money to import tobacco or we purchase what is available locally. And locally normally means Nahkla and older Al Fakhir generally.

With Nahkla I like the cut of it, I like the consistency. It's easy to smoke, gives huge clouds and is hard to burn. Nahkla likes the heat!

It's also old school and more traditional - I don't have to fanny around with funnel bowls or anything else. It's a pack-and-go tobacco. It's also cheaper than most and offers solid flavours and solid smoking experience.

I don't really think it was a great idea titling this thread "american shisha vs real shisha". Are you saying that american made shisha isn't real? Because I've smoked quite a bit of american made shisha, and I sure as hell wasn't imagining it so it must also be real.

All I'm saying is while I get what you're saying, but the question doesn't hold much water IMO. Shisha companies in general will be either hit or miss regardless of where they're made. They're almost all using the same process to make the shisha so it's like saying "who makes better pies, east coast US or west coast US?" There are tons of people who make apple pies in both areas, and in both areas some are good and some aren't.

Fair point JN. But reading betwixt the lines I read this thread as 'Traditional middle eastern shisha -vs- modern American shisha' Hence the tone of one's replies.

If I remember correctly there are actually only two tobacco's that are 'American made'
Tangiers & Fusion?

be careful though, not everyone likes ALL the nakhla flavors, so before you buy make sure you're getting a good one. id recommend their peach, mandarin and of course, double apple
