No Pull From A 2-hose Hookah?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I just bought my first hookah and I'm definitely a noobie as far as setting my own up. However, last night I set everything up just as it should have been and I'm getting very very little pull from the hose. It seems that when I suck on the hose, the ball bearing gets sucked into the piece where you attach the hose and it clogs it, hardly allowing any air through. I've heard that you need the ball bearing to keep the hookah air tight but now I can't get any air through the hose or any smoke or anything at all. I checked everything to make sure it's air tight and it passed all the tests but now I can't use it to smoke. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? The hookahtown customer service is rarely up and running and there's hardly anyone ever there so I tried that but it didn't work. Any help is greatly appreciated.

if ur only using 1 hose, you dont NEED the ball bearing, your just gonna have to go old fashion and thumb it.

i would suggest examining and cleaning your balls... it should be done regularly

check the ports, make sure nothing is clogging the hose stem,

i dont have an auto seal, so im not the best authority, but thats what i would suggest

congrats on the hookah, and welcome to the forum.

wat kind of hookah is it?

hey there, always good to see a fellow sconnie on the forum, we should get together some time

as far as the hookah problem goes, i would suggest loading a bowl, taking out the balls and thumb it for now, untill u figure out the problem.

as the old saying goes, "better to smoke and thumb, then to not smoke at all'

i may be pariphrasing though

haha ok. what does "thumbing it" all entail? sorry I'm really new...and how do i get the ball bearings out? thanks for all your help

not a problem, i was in yur place not months ago

thumbing it entails of placing your thumb over the tip of the mouth when not smoking so that the smoke in he vase stays in the vase, this is especialy important when usin both hoses. if one person does not thumb it while another is trying to inhale, you will get oxygen from the other hose, and....well ur basically not even smoking.

to take the bearings out, most likely ou just need to take off the hoses, and the stem, and probably just tip it over so that the bearings fall out, but if that doesnt work out, im sure you can figure it out. hookahs are gneraly made so that you can completely dissasemble them

i was lucky enough to be taught by friends in person, its hard to learn through the forum, not from a lack of knowledge and rescources, but its hard to look at the words and visualize sometimes.

see i think that might be the problem...the ball bearings do not come out. it's this "patented hose slot system" that hookahtown puts in their multiple hose hookahs so that you don't have to thumb it. i have no idea how to get the ball bearings out and trust me i've been trying for a long time...i can't pull just fine when i unscrew the piece where you plug the hose into and just put my mouth on the hole, but virtually no air can pass through the piece where you put the hose into

edit: is it just that the draw sucks with the auto-seal system? Edited by halcyondays

ok so i took the ball out on one side and left it in on the other so i didn't have to even thumb it and it works beautifully now. thanks for the help guys biggrin.gif

no problem, but u stll wanna thumb it so oxygen dont leak into the vase from your hose

make sure you get ahold of that company and figure out how to make our shit work right

I just got my first hookah that had the autoseal hose adapters and I found that one of them likes to stick every once in a while. Make sure your water level isn't too high and water isn't getting up in there, and after you rinse it make sure you get all the water out by blowing in it or using canned air, of if it's a big problem i'd contact who you bought it from and get it fixed.
