so early this morning toronto's most famous afterhour club got raided by ETF (the canadian version of SWAT), drug enforcement and local police.
this place was open from sunday 4am until monday 4am. a friend of mine was djing when the cops came storming in with guns drawn and ordered everyone to hit the ground. people were cuffed and questioned. those with drugs were arrested (dozens of people were arrested). my friend said he is still shaken up from this. police even tore down walls. its sad because i go here once in a while because quite a few of my friends dj here.

heres the story....

Nope now it's about hybrid buses.

I think the site is regularly changed and uses the same url. Oh well.

Tell us what the official police statement is when it comes out. I be it will piss me off majorly.

Quote from police article:

Karen Fazio, whose 26-year-old son Andrew died of an accidental overdose in January after a night at the Spadina Ave. club, said she wanted police to put the dealers who sold her son the drugs that killed him out of business.
“This place cost me my son,” she said in a tearful statement to the media. “Just to save one mother from this grief is worth it.”
She urged young people not to repeat the mistake her son made.

“Is life so bad that you have to do these drugs to disappear for awhile?” she said. “Can you not enjoy the music with this extra help? (These drugs) cost me my son.”

ARRGGGGHHHH!!!
This is why some people just shouldn't do drugs. Ecstacy is a dangerous substance because people sell other things as "X" which can be much more dangerous. Also, people should know their limits and DO THEIR RESEARCH INTO THE DRUG THAT THEY ARE TAKING.

I bet that club is finished now, and some of those who were busted for simple posession will get permanent felonies. ho-hum.

I also find it a lil' odd that they got 3 people on immigration... ? Edited by St. Goodypants

Thank god I've never had to deal with any of that stuff.

Locally last year the biggest club in town also got raided for the same reasons... It got so bad that people stopped going and the club shut down. It just reopened a few months ago..it was closed for about half of 2007 because of this one raid.

Goodypants you're going to want to censor some of your post, broseph. Asap.

i dont see why his post would be a problem since he clearly stated that he does not condone drug use and that people SHOULDNT do it. and if people do choose to do it (it is a big part of our society whether we like it or not) then they should research what they are doing.

QUOTE ("HookahForum Rules")
I have noticed an increase in drug refrences in posts of late, from bongs, to someone talking about hashish, to the mention of pot being something else a poster smokes. This will cease. This includes such phrases and euphamisms as "not always shisha" ,"the other stuff", "the stuff we don't mention" ETC. This also includes Salvia, which is now illegal in several states with other states not far behind. If it's not tobacco or herbal based SHISHA, just don't mention it.

I just don't want to see my favourite hookah smoking Saint take a vacation.

i know what you mean.
i know im not a mod or admin and i dont set or enforce the rules here but the topic of this conversation is about a venue being raided because it is notorious for its rampant drug use so its kinda hard to just ignore that fact. normally i wouldnt start a thread like this but it was all over the news here so i thought it would be a good topic for discussion.

well raids are scary, i get caught in one every now and then (never got arrested thank god).. in malta theyre not that bad, police usually raid clubs for smoking indoors and underage kids ($300 fine for being underage or getting caught smoking in a bar the first time..no joke) and every so often they find some NHT.. there are a couple of big raids though, i overheard a guy saying he was offered $100 to stand at the door to a "function" and he accepted it..then after standing at the door for a while he realised it was a HUGE (3-400 people, large for malta) NHT party... so some CID (undercover cops) came to the door and smelled NHT on him (he had not smoked any) and he didnt know who they were so jokingly he told em to "go on in and light up" ..then they cuffed him. he got annoyed and told them to take off the cuffs and they told him "ok wait right here" (in malta they do this when they think its not something big...yes i know wtf) and around 200 policemen stormed the building.. he got taken to hospital for a saliva test and was released with no charges. in that raid around 375 people were charged with trafficking/possession....

400 people and 375 people were charged? holy shit!

so heres a little something to add to the raid here...
the following weekend after the first raid, two people got arrested in the SAME venue for selling NHT to undercover cops. they were arrested and charged along with another person with an immigration warrant. i have a feeling the cops are gonna keep hitting this place until partiers are too scared to even walk through the doors, forcing the owners to close down. it will be sad if that does happen because this place is legendary. there are partiers from around the globe that have heard of The Comfort Zone in toronto.

ya right. good luck with that.
its an afterhours club. if they didnt allow it then they wouldnt make any money and would be forced to close their doors for good. you gotta remember that the "party scene" has NHT as one of its main influences.
and CZ is also owned by the local chapter of hells angels from what i was told.
