'foreign' Music.

I've got a thing for 'foreign' music, especially in languages that I don't understand. Seeing that HFC is a pretty eclectic mix of cultures, I'm hoping that you guys can help me (and others) to discover new music.

So, post the band name and the general genre they fit into, as well as the language. Also, post the band's name in the roman alphabet as well as the original spelling please smile.gif Youtube links appreciated as well!

I'll start...

Don Guralesko - hiphop (Polish)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=TIJpa0G12zw

Karandash (Карандаш) - hiphop (Russian)

Vavamuffin - reggae/reggaemuffin (Polish)

Soundkail - hiphop (French/France)

Chambao - neo-flamenco (Spanish/Spain)

Fernanda Porto - samba/drum&bass fusion (Portuguese/Brazil)

--same thing as above, but player LIVE smile.gif Edited by erufiku

Haha that brings back memories of Summer'05. In Polish their chorus sounds like "wlej se wlej" which is vernacular/dialectic for "por yourself (a drink)". Many a bottle of vodka were emptied to this song smile.gif

I generally listen to German music in the industrial/ebm/futurepop genre i.e. Funker Vogt, Wumpscut, Das Ich...

Also Hispanic music of same genre, but also some Spanish rap like Control Machete(the levi's commercial Si Senor)

Wow, thanks for this. I couldn't actually watch the whole thing but the song itself...
If you like sung poetry, check out Bulat Okudzawa (Булат Окуджава).

I find that if you're in the mood to think, sung poetry and hookah really compliment each other.

Also, if you're in the rock spectrum, I would recommend Nautilus Pampilius (Наутилус Помпилиус) from Russia. Basically the best classic russian rock group to grace planet Earth.

Listening to them makes me miss the times I've never experienced, when music was from the heart. Edited by erufiku
