Tangiers Help

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone..
I have been experimenting/working with tangiers over the weekend. To get this out of the way, it is all fully acclimated.

The issue I am having is that it will smoke great for about 10 minutes, loaded extra full with big holes. After that initial 10 minutes, the smoke starts to get very hot and thin. I know this must be a heat management issue, but I have tried just about everything under the sun.. exoticas, coco nara's, al ajdad's, golden quicklites, silver flints.. Starting with 3 pieces respectively then removing one when it starts to get hot.

Any ideas? there has got to be a way! the first 10 minutes is always so great.

ive never smoked tangiers myself, so i dont know any first hand experience, but i have no life so i scower the forums alot and from what i can tell, id say your holes are too big *not a word* too much heat gettin into the shish, and is gettin torched, try smaller holes, may work may not, cant hurt to try

From my little experience keep your holes big! Use less coal your first ten mins should build up gradually after which ul get the best smoke.... You may be burning the shisha and blocking the holes with it?? Be patient with it... Definately bigger than toothpick holes- i use the metal thing that usually comes with the metal tongs to make my holes...

i will try that.. I am using a toothpick right now for holes, going down so it gets as wide as the toothpick is.

i usualy use a paperclip and a circular patern.

i dont do this bcuz of heat managment, i do it because too big of coals tend to make the shisha ashy when moving he coals

i use quick lites so i cut it into 4ths put them in each 'corner' and ut a hole one in the center after about half hour

once again, i am no sort of authority, but i smoke alot, so give it a try, who knows

thin and harsh are key signs of being underpacked
i agree when i used to underpack it thats is exactly what would happen to me it would work fine right away and then just get horrible... and i also dont think your holes are too small i use even bigger than a toothpick and it works great just make sure u have a lot a lot of holes thats what really fixed mine was more holes
