I thought I would go back over the Persian stems they carry and cover some points. I've had this one about a month now... so its time for a thorough review.
I have the largest 4 hose they carry. Its a very attractive stem.. and overall I found the quality to be top notch. The fact that it breaks down and cleans really well is a huge plus, as well as the auto seal for ease of smoking in any given situation.
One thing about it that doesnt get much note as a feature is that the sections can be removed to shorten up the hookah for travel or pic-nicking.
The ash plate being located in between to parts that screw down to each other proves to be spot on. No more bumping the ashplate out of a wedged in, seated position... eliminating those types of spills.
There is only one area on the hookah (that I can find) that has a slolder connection.. and that is found on the down stem where a nuct has bee soldered on to form a seat when the down stem is screwed into position.
The above point really surprised me... even the entire hose connection is threaded in and can be removed for a thorough cleaning and inspection.
The "plug" part of the stem (area where base grommet covers) and hose connection housing is lathed from what appears to be a single casting instead of stamped sheet metal soldered onto the main stem of the hookah, like many other hookahs have.
The parts of the hookah are cast and I have found a few tiny pits that are associated with casting of soft metals... nothing major.
The chrome plating on all the parts are really nice.... a good plating job. This stuff isnt gonna be flaking off any time soon.
Somthing that I did notice that I wasnt real keen about at first was the downstem itself. I really like that it removes.... two things that might be different is that it lacks a nut on the end where it sits in the H20. I dont think its brass or coppper, so denting it in really isnt an issue..... but it wouldnt hurt. The other thing is the length of the downstem....... for folks that get that large egyptian base...... might find the downstem to be a bit short. It depends on how much airspace you like to have in your base.
The bearings in the autoseal are made of brass and corrode very quickly. I replaced mine with steel after a week.
Something I would like to see HH do is to sell some center sections seperately so customization after the sale would be a possibility. It would be really cool to have a resource that carries different shaped sections with the same diameter and tpi to really give a particular machine a personal touch.
A question I have for HH is about the interchangeability of bases. I purchased the Andalucia model with the large egytian bell base.... and I noted that the inside diameter of the mouth appears to be larger than the ID's of your dish/bottle/flame series (from info at the site)..... how are you fitting these up with this stem? Thinner walled grommet?

Hello. I am sorry it took so long to reply. I have been having trouble logging on to the site. The modern collection of hookahs, i.e. the mist, twisted sublime, etc., are machine made. The inside diameters of these hookahs are identical. But, because the exotic vases are hand made, such as the andalucia, the inside diameter will not always be exact. If the grommet seems to big, wetting it with water will solve that problem. If the grommet seems to thin, contact hookah hookah, and we will definitely mail you a thicker grommet for your hookah at no charge. Our shipping department puts all of the hookahs together prior to shipment to make sure everything fits, but if you would like a different sized grommet, those will quickly be replaced. We do have clear grommets that are thinner than the traditional black ones.
I've stated your suggestion about interchangeable parts. We love suggestions from our customers, and always look into possibly making them a reality.

HH: quick note, if you are having troubles logging in. erase your cookies and try again. It seems to be the magic cure for many log in/posting problems. We've long since trying to figure out the reason why.
