The Poor Man's Setup

Recommended Posts

By the way, whatup. I'm new here but I've been smoking for about five years and have owned my own for about two.

Anyways, I'm a broke college student. I can get Starbuzz, Fumari, and Layalina all at wholesale prices. I have a nice enough hookah (don't have the cash to make it pretty). I use those Japanese (or are they fake Japanese?) coals in the blue box that come in bricks of four, because I can get a box for five bucks.

But damn, I just still love smoking it so much that it's getting expensive. What I'm thinkin, is maybe some people can recommend some good Layalina flavors or good cheap brands so I can smoke more often for the same money.

Favorite flavors include: straight mint, citrus-mint, sometimes rose and fruity stuff like white peach, mango, sweet melon, marlett.

Any ideas?

Al Waha has always produced decent flavor and smoke for me. I generally keep a tub or two around at all times. It certainly doesn’t match the flavor of premium brands, but for the price it performs incredibly. I would include their orange cream and after nine as exceptions to al waha’s generally lesser flavor. I really can’t get enough of those two flavors. For 8 bucks I feel it represents your best deal.

To Nikon and Others I know all the Layalina flavors pretty well and over Spring Break will grab a couple sample packs (5 50 gram tubs for $9) from a friend of mine out in SoCal. So I know the flavors pretty well. For anyone looking for Layalina flavor tips, here's what I'd recommend: Blackberry + Black Grape, Orange + Vanilla, Eskandarani, Lemon + Mint (although Lemon isn't very good on it's own), Cherry + Cola, Apricot (although the flavor is very subtle)

louman: any good tips on Al Fakher besides grape and double apple?

John Stuart Mill: Besides orange cream and after nine, do you have any other flavor suggestions? Edited by cr3am

Well, those are my two favorites. I also enjoy al-waha cola and standard orange. Five star is a nice generic sweet tobacco that will always be enjoyed if not loved.
