Fuck Printers

Every god damn fucking printer I have dealt with in my life has always had issues. Today I bought two cartridges of ink for lexmark x5470 all in one piece of shit. And it doesn't recognize either of them. Why do printers suck so much. My sisters brother printer crapped out 2 months after I bought it and so did my dads. Iv thrown out so many epsons its ridiculous. And don't even get me started on HP

I fucking hate printers. They're always a pain the the ass.

Today I had to print some shit out on 36"x24" sheets on the plotter at work (pretty much a huge hp inkjet printer). I must have reprinted like 5 of the 11 sheets just because the damn thing wouldn't do what I wanted.

Dell's are the worst and dealing with dell customer service out of warranty is the worst experience. And the always seemed to break 3 months after warranty is up... never fails

I actually did go to a print shop on Saturday morning. Guess why? FUCKING BOTH PRINTERS AT MY HOUSE DECIDED NOT TO WORK AND SO DID THE ONE AT MY DADS OFFICE. It seems to be that laser ones are the only reliable ones. I was at staples for an hour and a half copying a text book and it didn't break once, that shit looked like it was 15 years old too.

I've had a HP laserjet for around7 years and the only attention it required was replacing the cartridge (twice). Now I have a Samsung laser printer and wish I had spent 20 bills more on a HP one...

Dell's are just lexmarks with a black paint job!

I have been in IT forever, and let me say this, techies have a rule of thumb. Printers are disposable. Normal printers have a 2-4 year shelf life. High Capacity Printers 5-7 Year shelf life. Never buy an HP or Lemark(Dell) unless it's at least a grand, never buy a Lemark(Dell) all-in-one. But aside 200 for all Brother Printers, maintenence kits aren't covered under warranty.

1 hp all in one with networking ability. never had a single problem with it. granted i threw down more money by getting the best buy service plan on it but im glad i havent had to put it to use.

ive always stayed away from lexmark and epsons because they always break within the first few months of ownership.

I just wanted to say the Best Buy Service Plans are a rip! That's how those stores make money, profit margin on products is minimal. Service plans which guarantee essentially jack squat because of all the loop holes are a waste of money.

I love my epsons. I have two all-in-ones...had one for 6 years now and a brand new one. for the price you can't beat them.

Just wanted to add another 2 cents. Edited by Stuie

Personally I stay the hell away from hp printers. I've had nothing but problems unless it's around $1200. THEN AND ONLY THEN have I seen a good HP printer.

I've personally got a new epson. It works for me without a hitch and wasn't any hassle to install. And I've only had a couple of problems with epsons in the past.

The quality of print is excellent. I make fractal images and do full-page (no border) prints of them, and they come out with photo quality.

The only problem is the ink capacity is far too low to run more than 7 prints without replacing at least one of the cartridges.

And I agree with stuie if the printer is under $600. Above that, I still expect it to work UNLESS it's a dell printer. Then it's shot no matter what.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen an expensive dell printer in a long time... Edited by St. Goodypants

I am not sure what the ink prices are for you guys....

But what some people here in S.A. do, is that they buy a cheap printer that is ready stocked with ink, then use it and
once the ink runnes out, they just buy another cheap one, because it is cheaper to buy a new printer fully stocked with ink instead of buying the replacement cartridges.

And then also you don't have to worry about how long the printer is going to last. cool.gif
