Bad Taste From Shisha

Recommended Posts

Hi, I've been smoking for a few months now, and smoke Layalina (ETMCO) shisha. I buy varying flavors in the 50g boxes. First bowl out each box is great, and I store the remaining shisha in a zip lock baggie. Lately I've noticed that after the first or second bowl, the shisha starts to gain this very gross flavor with each pull. It's not harsh, but an indescribable after/sub-taste. I've tried things like ensuring the hookah was thoroughly clean and different flavors, but it doesn't seem to help. The only thing I can think of is that it's this brand, but maybe I'm missing something.

So far it's happened with Cherry, Layalina Fruit Special, and grape flavors. I'm hesitant to open any more boxes until I can figure this out.

Any thoughts?

Your hose. If it's washable wash it, if not get a new one. Similar thing happened to me I kept thinking there was popcorn in it, and another time just a bad taste... both time rust was in the hose and the hose was rotting!

Hmm, I'll look into it but friend tasted it even after I had just bought a second hose and adapter for it. Also, so far the first smoke from each box I haven't had any problems with.

thats weird i have a ton of layalinas and i have layalina cherry and i have used it about 3 or 4 times in a month period and i smoked it last week and it went great...make sure you move your coal around while you smoke so all the shisha gets heat and not just the middle

It can not be the flavor thats causing this problem. Hence you are experiencing bad results with more than one flavor.

As mentioned, ry using less coals on your bowls and see how that goes.

Maybe the intense amount of heat is altering the flavor? Let us know what happens.

Ok, so I'm playing around a bit with heat management... this smoke I'm not getting as thick of smoke as I've been getting, but also not getting any aftertaste, or very little (maybe it's my imagination at this point). Could it be the coals? I've used only 3 Kings brand that come in a 100pk. Maybe they got damp or something? Could that affect taste?

had this problem just the other day.

have you been washing your hookah with soap? the taste of soap sometimes stick to the vase and gives it an odd undertone

put water, vinegar, and lemon juice into the base almost all the way full, and let it sit in there for an hour or two. fill your sink/ tub with the same stuff, and soak everything you can. after an hour or two, rinse them out, and smoke away

worked for me

Alright, sorry for bringing an old thread from the lost pages of this forum, but this is something I keep toying with smile.gif

The deep cleaning seemed to be the trick, thanks Bush biggrin.gif

Unfortunately, I have to do a very thorough cleaning after each smoke, so I be thinkin it's time for a *gasp* new hookah! I think this one I have is just kinda cheap, and the metals in the pipes aren't so great. That's what I get for $35 I guess tongue.gif
