Voski
anyone else hate this shit? I have never had a problem with math in my life until now and my teachers suck too. Fucking integrals and hyperbolics
erufiku
I took it in high school to get university credit. We had a whole semester for it (CALCULUS A) so it was pretty relaxed. Got a 5 on my AP test... Never came back to it
mj_b90
I'm in high school AP Calculus AB right now. I haven't had any major difficulty but my class is moving way to slow and I've learned more from the book than from my teacher.Oh, and if you get a TI-89 and learn to use some of its calculus features... you wont have to think much about a calculus problem again. :-P Edited March 20, 2008 by mj_b90
james
Calculus had to be the official math of the Nazi party. I can't stand it. I'm taking brief calculus right now as one of those requirements that I happened put off until just before I graduate. It just doesn't click with me, and I don't find it useful. Our text is tailored toward business majors, and uses scenarios with limits and derivatives to find some particular end figure. I'll use statistics or my accounting spreadsheets, thank you very much. Stinkyfisherman
I took that shit in high school, WAY long ago like my junior year... now I’m in my junior year in college and I don’t remember any of it. Shows you how much i paid attention in class.
Voski
In college we cant use graphing calculators at least in all the classes I have taken. Um my classes go way to fast, like no one can keep up with the teacher and take notes at the same time. I think what happened to me was I had a REALLY bad teacher for calc part 1 and he bumped my D into a C which means I can't retake the class so I was forced to move on when I'm not prepared. I learned what the chain-rule is 3 weeks ago and I'm in calc part 2 right now =/
anathema
2d calc is cake. It's all algebra and manipulating equations and variables.Yeah, you need to do well in Calc 1 to do well in Calc 2. Calc 2 requires you to suddenly remember limits, and all the previous formulas, then combine then with the new formulas you learn in calc 2, then integrate that stuff. Voski
I got a 77 on my first exam which was above average for the class and way better then what I thought I was gonna get. I had a lot of "stupid" mistakes which cost me like 10 points. And one fucking problem I can't believe I blanked on I got absolutely no credit on but when I looked at it again it was sooo easy that I was disappointed in myself. anathema
my bloopers are usually due to algebraic mistakesif you practice to the point where you can mentally figure what you should do, then you're fine, all that will hold you back are arithmetic and algebraic skills. i get simple mistakes all the time like fractions or simple division. That's what Accounting does to me. I hate blanking and then realizing how easy it was. Just too much stuff to remember sometimes. If I could take tests twice and use the best grades, I'd be happy. But on the subject of Calc.. haaaaaated it. I was convinced I wouldn't pass the class, but somewhere came out with a C. She must have curved the hell out of the final because there is no way I did well enough to get a C in the class.
