Funnel Bowl Smoke Problems

hey so as some of u know I got my funnel bowl with my last purchase. I tried it out and I had the hardest time getting smoke out of it. I had to put 3 33 mm 3 kings coals on it just to produce a noticable smoke that was moderately thin. Then after 5 min of that it started getting harsh but got thicker. I dunno wat I did wrong. I even put the hole in the center of the foil like rayver said in his video. The flavor was moderate but I ended up going back to my old bowl after an hour cause I didn't feel like using up all my coals. Help!!!!!

I'm smoking at watermelon in it so I didn't think I should be having that problem but if someone could help I'd appreciate it. I'll take pics of the hole pattern when I get the chance but in driving down to Santa barbara from Santa cruz so I can't do it now

Are you smoking Tangiers or a different brand? Try packing it to the rim if your smoking non-Tangiers. Use less heat and spread it all over the bowl. So instead of using 1/3s of a natural, use 3 1/6s of a natural. Move them around the bowl.

I dont have a Tangiers funnel bowl, but I do have a knock-off. I dont put a hole in the center, I find that too much of the air goes down that instead of through the shisha. So I recommend you try that first (Actually, maybe thats where I'm going wrong with the Tangiers? Maybe I should have a hole in the center when smoking that?)

Anyway. For regular shisha, I think 3 QL is too much. With so much weight ontop its likely that the foil is dipping, with the tobacco sticking to it and blocking the holes. I sometimes but an elastic band around the neck of my funnel so it hold the foil in place. I'd also recommend you try that.

Finally, I dont put hole immediately around the outside of the bowl. Instead i put them about 7mm from the rim, and smaller holes closer to the hole. That way the charcoal is closer to the holes and more heat goes into the shisha.

Maybe all my advice is bollox cause I'm not using a Tangiers funnel? But if no-one else replies to your thread I recommend you try them.
