Lighting Naturals When Out And About.....

Recommended Posts

I was looking at what I could get to light natural coals when I am out and about because the weather is finally becoming spring again. I saw this alcohol burning camping stove for like $9 shipped.

http://cgi.ebay.com/0-3-oz-Backpack-Campin...bayphotohosting

It says alcohol burns above 750 F. I was wondering how long it would take to light natrual coals this way, or what other ideas people have.

If you buy it off ebay you are getting ripped off!

Just about to try this out =) I am predicting 100% Fail

You predicting your building skills will cause 100% fail or the stove itself is 100% fail?

My building skills, I got it finished I have been working on since the last time i posted.......It came out all right, its a bitch to get it to fit together so I am hoping I did it right. Im going to get some rubbing alcohol this weekend and try it out. I have to say from what I have read about this little thing, Im impressed this looks like a way better way to head coals instead of a coil burner. Im not holding my breath on this but it looks promising. BTW for 9 bucks total it is so worth it. I would rather pay then try and make one of these again, also it looks like it will hold up better.

Yes how did it not work for you?

Crank it all the way open it lights coals faster then anything else I have ever tried. I personally do not own one since I use my stove to light coals and have no problem waiting for them to light.

But at my friends house thats all they use. If I had money to spare I would probably get one too.

Oh I see you just didn't apply enough heat. When Did you stop lighting the coal? I usually wait until the entire thing is white and theres a layer of ash so when I blow it off its red underneath.
