Guest LondonShisha
Due to my bad luck moassell i've had in the past losing it's flavour after a short period of time, i'm a bit paranoid about storing my new batch of Al-Amir correctly. For you guys that have had Al-Amir for a while, how have you stored it, and have you noticed any change in the flavour/taste/consistency?
yashman19
Theres no difference in storing one brand from another. Check out the proper ma'ssel storage thread (shoulnd't be more than a few pages back) and check some of the replies. If you want to skip that, the main concensus of the thread was to store ma'assel in room temp not in direct sunlight and in an airtight container. If you have al amir in the plastic tubs you should be fine, but if you are still paranoid you could move it into the gladware air-tight storage containers. Putting the ma'ssel in the fridge is a bad idea. Some people say it keeps it fresh longer, and that you only have to take it out of the fridge an hour or two before you smoke to warm it up a bit...this is totally not necessary. Ma'ssel (varying by brand a little) should last anywhere from 1-4 years right out of the factory, so I wouldn't worry about your ma'ssel. Air-tight container, room temp, not in direct sunlight. Lakemonster
Whatever you do... DO NOT FREEZE. I ruined a 250gm tub like that.....
MR Bubble
I tried storing in in the fridge and it dried it out. Not good. MR Bubble
Guest LondonShisha
I've put it in an airtight container for now, and kept it in a cool dry place - hopefully that should keep well for now. I've also got some vacuum containers on their way, so i'll do some experimenting with keeping flavours in airtight containers vs vacuum ones. The Al-Amir seems more 'gritty' than other mollasses, and I had to mix it quite well the 2nd time I smoked it (first time it was quite evenly mixed). Do you mix yours every time you smoke?
