I Kinda Got Into Trouble Today..

Recommended Posts

If you have a car on base, I would keep all your equipment in your car, keep the shisha in your room and get a suitcase for discreteness in on-foot transport. I'd say tell your commander that the Air Force has a new weapon in the fight against radical extremism, a hookah and a translator.

Thats too bad man, but better than some of the consequences possible. Do you have to pay for the burns in the carpet? If not, you got off pretty good.

ill have to pay.. i talked with the dorm manager recently and the carpet costs 1,200 to replace.. they have a 500 dollar limit, anything above that i have to pay for.. so im hoping its only 700 dollars. thing is, the carpet is really cheap and not even worth half of what the air force pays for it

well, all i can say is...

off you go, into the wild blue yonder,
flying high into the sun
here they come, zooming to steal your hookah
At em boys, give em the gun
down you dive, spouting your smoke from under
off with one helluva roar
you'll live in fame, smoking without a flame
but nothing can stop the US air force

Loving your version of that patriotic song!

QUOTE (Yamin @ Mar 29 2008, 08:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Are the burns really severe?

I used to work in an oriental rug store, and I found that if carpet is burned, get a really sharp knife and scrape at it with the tip to rip off the top bit. Afterwards, use scissors to cut off the wool or whatever that comes up off of it.

Like I said, I don't know how bad the burns are, but in my house I drop coals all the time on rugs and carpet, and with that trick, it's almost unnoticeable unless you know it's there.

carpet is too cheap and thin the cutting it wouldnt do anything, its like carpet in stores or school.

The situation sucks bad. I bet the coal burns aren't even that bad! Way back I used to be in dorms, and I used to drop coals on the carpet all the time (maybe five times in total). But I did what Yamin recommended and no-one noticed when I left halls smile.gif

Could you try replacing the carpet your self? See if they'd allow you, I reckon it would be a lot cheaper than 1200 USD.

Sorry to hear that :/ Although I don't understand the logic behind his reasoning. If you have to pay for the carpet to be replaced anyways, what do new burns matter? But then again, it's the AF so I'm guessing you can't argue with what the man says.

PS: I think they won't let him replace it by himself b/c they have fire regulation rules and evertything (incl. said carpet) has to comply. That's how billions of dollars end up in the military budget of a country.

i mean if i had inspections and i knew the carpet was screwed up and that i would have to pay way more than it really costs, i would have changed parts of it before anyone could find out.

did it to part of the carpet at my parents house and they never found out. lol

i had the burns covered. and on the inspection they didnt notice the burns, but they sent in a plumber to repair my sink cause the faucet was leaking and he had to move the weight scale i used to hide the burn from the coil burner. on further investigation he searched under the carpet that i bought and found more burns. when someone works on something there has to be an escort and unfortunatly the escort was my dorm manager Edited by Canon

I never had any porblems with my college floor "residence assistant." Of course, I only had one burn in the carpet which i hid with the sofa, and I always kept my pipes n their bags under my bed. It does get annoying having to tell people that it is a tobacco only pipe though!
