Hookah Coal Dust Control / Elimination

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone,

Just discovered this website the other day - I've been on the hookah for years, I travel through Dubai every month and usually pick up supplies there but the city is such a pain to travel in (you can wait for an hour for a taxi at the mall) that I've just been relying on the airport duty free for tobacco.... and lately they just have brands I don't like (I'm an AF fan). So came across this looking for sources online for AF... have placed an order with southsmoke so hopefully it comes across the border OK (am in Canada).

Anyway I've picked up lots of good ideas so far and think i'll invest in a new hookah when i sort through all the recommendations..... so thanks to all who've contributed their experience and knowledge.

So, on to my topic - I smoke my hookah in my home office, using three kings charcoals, probably one to one and a half rolls worth a day (say 3-4 small bowls). After a couple of days, the office is coated with black dust which I assume is from the coals. I've tried putting a tissue over the top of my protector (sorry, don't know what it's called but the tin cylinder that you put over top of the bowl to prevent sparks from flying out and i suppose protect from wind if you are outside) but that typically just chokes the airflow and the coals dont burn properly.

Obviously I don't like the dust everywhere.... does anyone have any ideas/hints/tips on how to eliminate or reduce it? Maybe it is just my brand of coals, dunno....

Thanks
The Rev

do you start the coals inside? if so dont.
get a hepa air filter

Yeah I do start them inside... Is most of the dust from the startup you think?

there is a lot of crap that comes off the coals when you start them, definitely dont do that inside
