Those Who Are Good With Website Stuff

Hello guys, i have a friend up here at work who needs help getting his website, which was designed by a friend of his to the top 10 slot, or at least close to it, in google.

i tried to help a little bit but its hard to dig through all the crappy sites that do nothing for you, or give me info i already have.

If you goto his site you will see what type of things people might type in that actually should point to his site

His site is: http://willrogersyourevent.com/

It's a simple site (i actually told him it didnt even need stylesheets or anything) and thats all it needs to be. its basicly a cheap advertising for his performace.

some obvious things that you might search for would be "will rogers actor" "will rogers entertainer" things like that he would like to see his site on the front page when you search that.

I'm doing this to help a not so computer savy guy and i only know some basic HTML so any help would be great!

he wants to be higher on the list when you search for things on google or something.

i typed in several keywords that are in his meta tag and couldn't find it even looking through 6 or so pages of results.

Get those meta tags loaded like you said. There's not much else you can do with a page with a big image on it. Getting a high google page rank is all about having your site linked to from many sources, so that when google crawls the web they get pointed to your site more- giving you a higher ranking. But thats hard to do with such a simple page because most often you need to link others to get links back.

I'd center that picture though.

Mj is right~

I guess you could make a bunch of satellite websites that link to the one in question, or go around message boards spamming links to it. Just not this one.

Also the grammatically and stylistically abominable phrase "the unforgotten humorist of all times" makes me want to not only book another comedian, but send anthrax to the web designer.

Also "Filled with imagery, music and excitement that created a superstar" is cacophonous as an independent sentence.

Worst of all might be the final line "[Title of show] will be sure to be a memorable experience for all ages!". Honestly almost anything else would be better, but just for example, "[Title of show] is sure to be a memorable experience for all ages!", or "[Title of show] will be a memorable experience for all ages!", or "[Title of show] is a memorable experience for all ages!"

Just some constructive criticism. Hope that helps. Edited by gaia.plateau

If your buddy is in the market for a bit more of a website, have him shoot me an email. mblock@compsnet.com

We do full web design and hosting, we'd cover everything he needs from a new design to hosting and email at an affordable price.

he's one guy and the website was designed for him for free by a friend of his... so he's not looking to spend much... he just wants to get his name out there!

he really is a great actor though!

at our hallowmarine at the aquarium last year several people said there was a drunk guy dressed up like a pirate....

he was dressed up like a pirate and acting drunk!!!!

he was completely sober!! (unlike me right now!)

P.S. this post took a long time to write... see above line...
