zero786
Gar im confused at which one to buy. Both look the part but im unsure on which gives a better smoke with less problems. I own a 26" al fakher hookah and i can never get nice thick and smooth smoke out of it, i blame the short downstem to be honest. So im just after personal opinions on people who own either the gyro or Obelisk and if anyone knows where to get them cheaper than hookah-shisha.com !!!Thanks in advance,Zohaib Edited March 30, 2008 by zero786
paiintballa182
ive seen people get monster clouds out of 10.5 bambino'si dont think the downstem is to blame
bassman65
I think lots of people have and love the Gyro. You could probably get a better, traditional hookah, but the Gyro is pretty gorgeous and packs up nicely. The Obelisk is the taller gyro right? Thats probably pointless, as the Gyro is a nice size already.

I can get my Bambino to give off some huge clouds. But on subject , Out of the two I would go for the Gyro.
Stuie
The only real difference of the two is the look. They both seem to smoke the same. I was able to try both out this weekend down in Dallas along with several other hookahs, and I am actually going to get an Obelisk soon. Love the look and the smoke. Just one man's opinion. zero786
i can never seem to get a decent smoke cloud with af hookah, ive played about with it for ages and nothing seems to work. The smoke just seems to be very weak regardless of heat mangement, and ive checked for air leaks and it seems to be air tight. The reason i want a Mya is that they look very good and the reviews of many people say you can get good smoke effortlessly.(Its a 26" af hookah, mya pot, swift lite coal, starbuzz tobacco.) If you want to recommend any other hookah then please do !!!Thanks again!!Zohaib

Enormous' Clouds.Maybe try tweaking your stetup with a phunnel and a nammor/razan. Oh and also tighten up your base grommet using electrical tape under it. manic007
I have an AF 36". Check the screw thing ontop of the stem. I've found that thing leaks air, you have to tighten it *really* tightly (or put a rubber washer underneath it - I did this). Also the grommet for the base was really dodgey. It would sometimes produce an airtight seal, but if you moved the hookah, it sometimes leaked. I replaced it with a Mya grommet.Yeah! Buy a Mya! The AF can be made to smoke really well, but it take some effort. Mya's smoke fine out of the box.Get the cheaper Mya. They all smoke the same. Or if you want to splash out, get a Khalil Mamoon Tri-metal. I really wouldn't waste too much money on a hookah, its better spent on shisha!PS: Try using natural/formed charcoal, they're MUCH better than QL's! paiintballa182
both of those pipes cost more than a KM manic, but they are the epitome of Mya quality
likespaceships
i believe worldhookah.com is still having a sale on myas.I bought the gyro over the obelisk because i wasn't a fan of the obelisk base. looked cheap to me for some reason.

paiintballa182
I personally do not use QL's, but my local lounge does, and their 3k's seem to be the better end of that type of coal

jester589
Don't see what the problem is with the AF's...I got the 36" as my first hookah for Christmas and have never had a bad session with it that would be attributed to the hookah. Always have had great smoke and everything. Pretty much 2 quarters of a exotica on a normal bowl and decent heat management (wind cover etc) have been all I needed to get it going great. zero786
got the gyro two days ago, smoked it three times, and i kept feeling sick, smoke seemed make my tongue curl werid. Today after trying al waha blueberry i nearly passed out, felt reallyyyyy light headed, sweating, stomach pains, pins and needles all over. could barely walk at one point. freaked me out so there 2 possibilities 1 coal (using golden coals) wasnt fully lit leading to carbon monoxide. or there some glue stuck in the pipe which is giving off fumes. checked the pipes and in the downsteam found what seems to be a glue depoist but i cant seem to get it out, gone at it with a screwdriver, hookah cleaning rod and still stuck there which is leading me to believe that its prolly just some excess metal...so im just wondering what the frig is going on????
