its probably screwed on and sealed with a thread sealer, use a heat gun to try and melt the sealer, it should come off then.

I can see some black rubber sticking out of the bottom, so here is definitely some sort of seal there. I don't have a heat gun or any WD40... can't I just smash the old bowl, lol?

You could but then you might be left with the unfotunate event that the glass inside the threads of the bottom part of the stem remains intact. Requiring you to hammer the inside possible damaging it.

Three methods i would try:

1. Hair dryer on silver
2. run hot water on silver
3. Lightly, i stress lightly bounce the stem on the edge of a counter where the metal and glass are connected for a few rotations and twist off. (no it's not hypicrital to my first statement I have been doing this to get out trumpet mouthpieces, open jars, and other things.) bouncing creates friction- friction creates heat - heat expands metal - stem loosens from glass. That's why it's last try it last.

STOP!

HAMMER TIME!

Well, I'm no whiz when it comes to this stuff, but I mean if the bowl is already cracked you could potentially hurt yourself trying to unscrew it. It could possibly shatter in your hands if you're using enough pressure and cut you all up, so if it were me I'd just take a hammer to the old bowl and then use some pliers to get the remainder of the glass up in the metal part out. Theoretically it should work, plus it'd be a lot more fun!

That top part should screw off.. I used to have a rotator and i took my top off to fill it with water and ice.. it used to get stuck on pretty good (and i took it off every night) ..

edit: yea i thought i was gonna be the first one to post.. maybe I should refresh more...

same thing happened to my rotator, except the glasss didnt just crack, it split around the center and caved in on itself.
we ended up taking it outside and hammering the glass out of the top part. Edited by Tom16689
