mathuv
so.. my friend has a mod bowl and everytime i load a bowl its weird. the bowl is soo wide and makes the 40mm coals look small. we always have to make a foil windcover or else we wont get any smoke. and at the end of the session, much of the shisha is unburnt. any idea on how to resolve this? last time we used it i broke the coal in half (dropped it accidentally and split right down the middle) and put the halves on opposite ends. worked well. leadpipecinch21
i usually use 3 halves of a 33mm coal spaced out...works OK, but it wastes a lot of coal. i really dislike mod bowls.
shisha fan
you could try using 3 half 40mm coals, thats what i did before my mod bowl broke.

r1v3th3ad
I generally use two 33mm coals or a half of an Al Kemma natural coal and a 10mm coal...works great for me
Steemax
I used to have a mod bowl and yeah they are wide. I used 2 33mm's for QL's but now i have a Egyption Clay bowl temprarly until i get a phunnel, but the egyption works Extremly well, and much better then the mod bowl, but try 2 33mm's and add a 3rd once the two become small, both on either end. And then a triangle shape with the 3rd one.
likespaceships
i hated my mod bowl.try and find a standard egyptian. they are dirt cheap.
smidge
for me, i generally use 3 40mm halfs. in a triangle shape, doesnt scorch my shisha, and i get good clouds from it. but in the end, not all the shisha is burnt.
VDDZ
I love my modern bowls, the flatter and wider the better, I find it makes for even, long burnings. I place the coals as far out as possible in a ring, or a "tepee" if I only have to large ones, and move them in as more heat is needed or as they burn down. Hookah is a simple formula, toast that shit, dont' burn it, but depending on what "variables" are used, different methods must be tried. Experiment! Find what works best, that's my two bits.
