help me out

Recommended Posts

Alright guys, here's the deal.

I just got the fayrouz hookah from hookahook.com

I have a number of questions about how to set it up.

First of all, the rubber seal it came with for the stem/base is too small, and the ones that I have are too big...

It is too small if the stem is wobbling around right?

Secondly, the hoses it came with feel pretty badly made. There is
seemingly no way to use a grommet for the hoses, but I guess I could be
wrong about that. It has an autoseal, maybe that will help.

I bought a porcelian hose tip (For my mad style), but it doesn't fit in
the end of the hoses!! Not quite sure what to do about that since the
ends don't come off...

other than those issues it seems like a pretty solid hookah.

If I bought some hoses from myasarah would they fit into the fayrouz?
the hose holes on the fayrouz are pretty small, much smaller than on my
other rotating hookah. The rotator came with cobrah hoses, and they
don't fit into the fayrouz (even without the grommets).

I'm not sure quite what to do, but I'm pretty sure that my next hookah will be a myasarah.

Any advice on any of these problems is appreciated.

TIA

First you contact them. Tell them everything you told us. Are the hoses exactly like those pictured on the site? Thos epictured look like nice mya's.
secondly..that has an autoseal??  WHERE??
Im looking at the picture and I DON'T see any space for a grommet for the hoses. ODD. tool dip here you come.
I am beginning to feel VERY badly about recommending them to you...
Contact them and see what they can do.

I like how in the picture, it doesn't even look like they used ANY
grommets anywhere on the hookah ie: the hose grommets or even the base
grommet...

Even on their own picture the hookah doesn't stand up straight...

And yes, those hose ports don't look very large. Even if you did get
some grommets for them, doesn't look like it would fit inside the small
holes, and especially not with a hose..

This is a Syrian machine. My Syrian machine (which I used only 3 or 4 times) is the same way, in that there is no room for any hose grommet. That's when you "Smoke Like Egyptian."  I take a piece of cigarette box cardboard (or maybe the box cardboard from a 50 gram sampler box) and roll it around the hose end, lick it real good, and twist it into the stem part of the machine. It will give you a very acceptable seal.
If the hose pictured are the same ones they gave you, they are wonderful hoses! Mine are almost 2 years old and still sucking away.
I'm sorry to say, but a hookah like that (for me) is best left being a disply object. I found that the best machines are those that can be mistaken for a bulldozer part. Not much to look at, but can be wrestled with and can still suck a bowling ball through.

I guess I can't smoke it until I hear back from them. Not like I could
return it anyway. The shipping was quite a lot. Wow this is a bummer...
As for the hoses, they are pretty cheap. They have that metal tube
on both ends of each hose (the actual hose part, before the tip). One
of them came off; they are all poorly glued. One of the hoses is
crushed in one spot too... Since it's a syrian hookah it seems that I
couldn't get replacement hoses... I should've gone with a mya or a
stargate. Maybe I'll get one of those sooner rather than later. Glass
myas are good, right?

here's what i woudl do. I'd get in touch with them. Detail all the problems with it. Tell them you want everything fixed or replaced. If they refuse, tell them you want them to send a call tag for return shipping. A call tag is where THEY pay for the return postage.  Often it is either a sticker/lable you stick on the package or they arrange with the carrier to pick it up and they have the lable. Either way, don't end up wasting the money.

I might be a bitch and ask for everything to be fixed or replaced. I
want to smoke out of it though, which I shouldn't do if I'm waiting
about that.

Something I neglected to mention earlier is that the metal end of the
stem that goes into the water is bent (at an angle with the rest of the
stem) where it's attached (soldered I think). I'm not sure if I should
try and fix that (with force, or solder I guess).

As for testing the autoseal. I CAN still suck air with the top of the
stem covered. I guess that means no autoseal, which is unbelievably
irritating since they directly told me it had an autoseal.
Unfortunately, I asked them a while ago and I no longer have that
email...

I will keep this thread open, I guess, and post my current situations in here

Holy christ...yeah I would send that thing back. I know you're anxious
to smoke, but be patient. They might gripe about it if you try smoking
out of it and then send it back. Best just to leave it exactly how it
came.

Good luck with this whole ordeal, and hopefully they will take care of you.

problem is that it cost like 70 to ship, and I doubt they'd want to
refund my money, and pay for shipping back. If they won't refund the
shipping, then I'd be paying more for the shipping than the hookah and
it wouldnt' be worth sending back...

We'll see I guess.

well, I ordered a different hookah from socialsmoke. 4-hose large
autoseal egyptian, blue and chrome. I've also emailed hookahook and
asked them for a call tag and refund, since their hookah was falsely
advertised and defective. Hopefully I'll get a refund and not a
replacement. Worst come to Worst I'll have an extra hookah that I'll
either keep or try to sell.

Anybody want to buy a fayrouz hookah? Brand new.
