questions
since flavor is so questionable or personal, how does one rate the flavors?I have gotten so many different responses to my smoke, I can't even explain it anymoreI mean..the same batch, same everything but just different people and one can't taste a thing, another is amazed how flavorful it is?any words on this? Stuie
Some can be objective 100% of the time, not most of us. But there are those, that can't say a nice thing about Rose flavored tobacco, like me, so I don't. If someone doesn't like the taste, they will right a bad review, despite it being a good flavor and smoke, but just not suited for their palate. It's hard to sort through them with out having a base group of testers you know and trust can give you honest unbiased opinions on quality and taste, and gauge everyone else's responses to your test group, to find the popularity of a flavor. Johnny_D
You can only rate flavours as best as you can. Each person's Palate will react differently. For instance I *HATE* coconut flavours. But that does not mean it's a bad flavour...JD

Sonthert
I'm allergic to nuts, so I can't tolerate any nutty type flavors. I think almost everybody has a bias, whether its just taste or there's a legitimate reason for it.
Scoop
i think unless your taste buds are burned out, people should be able to taste it, whether or not they like it is a different story
questions
I agree...I just find people will tell me they liked or disliked it instead of actual existence of flavor. and when I know for a fact that a flavor is strong, it amazes me that they tell me, they don't taste anything...ie...my peppermint is strong..very strong, but I had someone tell me today, it was no flavor what so ever..this shocked me...and another complained to me that this flavor was too strong..same batch..no explanation in my mind for this..hey..can't make everyone happy...would like to though...i listen and take it all in, wish there was some standards we could work off of. hockeydudde
I honestly think that it also has to do with the individual. Sometimes just between my friends and I one of us will love the flavor and thinks it tastes just like it is supposed to, but others of us will taste nothing really. I think it is mostly personal perception and differences in what each person expects before tying it.

Taste buds only "sense" sweetness, saltiness, sourness and bitterness. This is why you get far more flavour exhaling through your nose, and why welders often lose their sense of taste even though they don't usually take the blowtorch to their tongue. ZenSilk
When im rating i go by the trueness and realness of the taste. How close it is to the real thing. I don't like apple, but if it is a good apple i'll rate is a good flavor. Some flavors are too candyish, some are too weak. It shouldn't be based on how much i like that certain flavor because it will throw people off when they look at the reviews. Which one was your shisha, questions? There are so many new tobacco people coming in i'm losing track.EDIT: Ohh it's Zona! I'm getting it in tommorow. . I'm more than excited. Jungle juice sounds creative and fun. I can't wait to review it, i bet it will be great. Edited April 8, 2008 by ZenSilk
