Snoopy1966
So I had a flat last night and used my spare little speed donut. I went to a tire place today and then I called Enterprise Car Rental to come pick me up because I did not have an appointment at the tire place and I was not planning to get service today. They make me wait 50 minutes to get picked up. They get there and then ask if I have a credit card and I said all I have is a Debit card from my Bank. They said they would need two utility bills with my address. I told them I am at Tires Plus, I do not have any utility bills handy Go figure....So they offer to drive to my house to get them. So we do that.....but..... my Drivers License does not have my current address because I moved recently and did not update it yet. They said no dice, they will not rent to me. I let the dude in MY house, my computer, show him my accounts, print the stuff out, and I get we can not rent to you for the above reason I just stated. WTF is all I have to say. I rented a cargo van from them 3 weeks ago. I have used them many times because of the service they offered. I just used Hertz down in FL with my Debt card no problems. Well I guess I feel a little better now to write this. The tire company just called and they are almost done. I am having them check my gas tank too because it gets a gas smell when I fill the tank. And no I do not keep filling the tank after the first clunk, 1 clunk from the pump shutting off and that is it. Anybody else have similar experience? not about the gas tank......I will not get a credit card and there is no way I ever will. I do not take interest or pay it. If I do not have the money, I do not buy it. Simple life plan.Gas tank is rusted out, need a new one. It's all good.Oh I forgot. While I was at the tire place the guy who works at the tobacco shop here shows up. He comes up to me and told me they just got so Tangiers in and some of the new flavors that Eric released. Now if I could only get there...

Snoopy1966
I am on the phone right now with corporate and I think there is nothing they will do. They said the Drivers License must match the utility bill. OK I can understand that if you are from out of town or something like that..Still a shitty policy not accepting a Debit Card they can see how much money you have in your checking account. They said they are calling the branch now and see what they can do. But... like I said I brought the guy to my house. It just does not seem right. I am being very polite with them, and it is hard!!! I can do it though. Maybe I can get somewhere. My car won't be ready until tomorrow because they needed to order a gas tank and filler tube. I need a car. Johnny_D
I understand both the religious and social reasons for snoopy's refusal for using a credit card. However, certainly in the uk, you just cannot do some things without one [Renting a car for example]It's possible however to get pre-paid credit cards that may serve your purpose. Or if that does not work you could get a credit card and ensureyou have a direct debit to clear the balance every month - therefor avoiding conflict with religion.Just a thought JD
Bulldog_916
Damn, that sucks about the debit card, I've never had a problem with that stuff. Mine went through every time....except, that one time I got drunk and tried to fill my gas tank 4 times in 15 minutes with the same card...it didnt work every time, except the last one. I wouldnt have gotten home if I didnt fill it. DO NOT DRINK N FILL N DRIVE!Also....you say you smell fuel when you fill up? It's not a coincidence, its a fuel station, lol. I will not cave to conform to that. If I die, who will pay my bill then, could end up in interest being paid. I will check into that card JD, it seems things are getting tougher on Debit cards, and I have really not had any problems until yesterday. Sheesh, I rented a cargo van from them 3 weeks ago no problem, but they said the got reprimanded for breaking corporate rules by using my Debit Card. I think a Debit Card must be from a Bank not a re-chargeable one and you should be good to go. I used my Debit card in FL for my rental car and no surcharge deposit. The branch manager here at Enterprise will not call me back. The people I talked to gave me his direct line yesterday. I guess that is there new policy now. I need to change my Drivers License address. It is important now to keep you stuff up to date, but I do not feel like sitting in the DMV for 3 hours to get a new license. Soon when I feel bored enough to do it...lol
Stuie
Snoopy I agree with you on everything, especially credit cards. I use to work for Budget years ago in a call center. Like 4-5 years ago they took debit cards, but preferred a credit card, so if ANYTHING happened to the card they can max out the card to at least get some of their money. I would always tell the people I would run their card as a credit and hope the system didn't catch it. Just for the record you think they treat their customers like crap you should try working for them!"The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower becomes the lender's slave." Snoopy1966
Yeah the dude I talked to at Enterprise number from their website was really cool. He said the same thing as you just did. He told me he does the same as I do and it sucks working for them.
