SimplexCoda
Ok so i have already asked this in another thread but i wanted to start this one so as to not hijack the thread.I have never ordered tangiers before so what are the tell-tell signs that i have a batch that does not need to be acclimated that does not require comparision to older batches? racemyghost
If i understood your question correctly, all tangiers need to be acclimated.
mathuv
apparantley new batches say on the packet that they do not need to be acclimated. "old tangiers" was very roughly cut, unlike any other tobacco i've seen, thick, juicy pieces. apparantley the "new tangiers" is cut more fine. I am assuming my bramble berry is from a new batch since last time I ordered from HC (last month) I got the last bramble berry they had.
Snoopy1966
Here a couple of pics. The cut is a little finer and groomed better as Eric stated here. You have less loose end pcs, but you still have some rough cut leaves and smaller chunks. I have yet to see a huge clump like I have had on some of the older Tangiers. The Cinnamon I opened in FL over a week ago and I think it is about ready now. I have not had the top off the whole time, but it has been brewing for some time now. The Blue Gum Ball is on the right, that I smoked this morning. Old on left new on right.oldnewnew labelnew on top old on bottomsee new color scheme.. Snoopy1966
It still helps, but you can smoke it up right away It gets even better taste when acclimated and it does not take long at all.
thecoalition
i did my standard 5 hour acclimation with a stir halfway through. should taste awesome now. will be smoking once i get some food in me

SimplexCoda
Ok so after my next paycheck im gonna buy the Tangiers sampler pack # 3 from HC. The flavors include: Apple, Strawberry, Watermellon, Bluegumball, and Red Tea. This will be the first tangiers i have had. So.....Do you guys think I will get the new batches of tangiers in this group? And, I figured that since Blue gumball doesnt interest me too much so this will prolly be the first flavor i try so that I can figure out the packing method on it. thecoalition
blue gumball is actually very nice. tastes like the blue raspberry gum to me.i would suggest trying the apple and strawberry first.also make sure you watch rayvers vid on packing. seems to help out those new to tangiers. SimplexCoda
The reason I want to try the gum flavor first is because i dont like gum flavors so if it doesnt smoke right till its almost all gone i wont be upset.
EternalSoil
i wouldn't order a flavor you think you wont like.i smoked tangiers just fine the first time i got it!dont count on making mistakes, but dont give up if you do make them!

It is not to sweet, I do not like the really sweet flavors either. It has a nice blueberry undertone also. This new batch is teh sex.

ASUSEAN1
yea it probably is still better to acclimate it unless you have washed tobacco..edit: Oh and I like how everyone said that Mush and I were "stupid" (cough Eric cough) for cutting up tangiers before we pack it and now it comes tht way. I was always told there was no point in doing tht but i guess now there is...? psssh i am gonna cut it even smaller before I pack it now Edited April 9, 2008 by ASUSEAN1
Snoopy1966
I dunno know if it so much the smaller pcs, but better groomed tobacco. There are still some nice size pcs but look much different. IMO there are much less of the clumps with the little stem tails. OK so far 3 out of the 5 flavors I have opened and smoked right away have been awesome.2 more to try, The Brambleberry and Vanilla. I already have some Brambleberry and Vanilla, so it will be a while before I open them and try. Tropical Revenge #3Blue Gumballand now Peach Ice Tea. OH man is all I have to say!! And yes the acclimation is still good to do, you find much less time involved for the process and the flavor gets even more better.
boulderkid303
Ive done both ways...and eric's is much much better. Plus would you rather do it the way the consumer does it? Or the way the inventor does it? I usually fill it up alot, or if im feeling some what lazy which is rare I'll throw the bowl in the tub with the tangiers and just load it up quick, and then even it out. Thats how eric does it I believe.QUOTE (voski @ Apr 8 2008, 03:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>QUOTE (thecoalition @ Apr 8 2008, 03:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>blue gumball is actually very nice. tastes like the blue raspberry gum to me.i would suggest trying the apple and strawberry first.also make sure you watch rayvers vid on packing. seems to help out those new to tangiers.I don't get why Eric says to pack a lot of tobacco when in rayvers vid he doesn't put a lot.
