Custom Hose Covers

Recommended Posts

You know..... the scrunchy fabric ones that  on over your hoses to spruce em up a bit.
Well.. this post is to see if there is any interest in custom hose covers. in your choice of fabrics..... and I dont just mean what I can lay hands on. ANY MATERIAL... at least any that I can run thru a sewing machine.
Tomorrow I plan on taking off the ends of my 4 joker hoses and doing Yahsman's idea of using the vinyl line on them. When Im done, I'll be able to take of the hose section and clean it or replace it in just seconds.
However..... that stuff isnt the most eye catching stuff in the world so I plan on making some covers. I've sewn lots of stuff in the past. and this will be just like making a table lampcord cover... just with elastic sewn in the ends. or I may run a pocket and use a tie lace that will tuck back up inside the cover.
Anyway.. I work in the Interior Design industry and can lay hands on really FINE fabrics and silks pretty reasonable. So I can get as high end as a person could imagine......or I can go to Wal-Mart and get fabrics on the very low end.
To make a custom hose cover, all I would need are 2 measurements from the customer.
Anyhow. Im rambling now.
Is there any interest in this. Perhaps at a starting price of 8.99 a piece to???

From my understanding, it's just a tube of fabric with the ends finished that's scrunched onto the hose, correct? I don't see why more people don't whip out the free sewing kit from the motel 6 you stayed at and invest in 50 cents worth of fabric from Walmart or something :)

Um......... if thats how you want to spend your time.. sure. Hours of it.
I think the point is to actually make some thing nice... ya know... double stitched. Using bettter fabrics like Cross dyed India silk or Velvets.
Sewing that by hand would take forever..... unless it was hurried and not that great of quality.

Ah, I see what you mean. I mentioned the free sewing kit because I don't know how many people here have access to a sewing machine...my friend across the hall spends a lot of his time embroidering onto his converse; he finds hand stitching to be relaxing, and doesn't think of it as time consuming or poor quality.
