teq
I originally wanted to implement a thermo-electric cooler into my hookah that would keep the water just above freezing temp, but with most designs it's hard to do effectively. So, instead, I was thinking about building a non-traditional modern style hookah that could be contained entirely in a cube. It would be made entirely out of lexan or acrylic and be entirely dishwasher safe. The entire length of a 35" or greater stem could be contained internally through a maze-like series of tiers. Virtually un-tippable and portable.Best of all, it would be completely open to modification. You could drill additional hose ports, add wheels to the bottom, add lights, etc.
r1v3th3ad
sounds pretty cool...I'm just not a big fan of acrylics because the become shot overtimespeaking of...[threadjack] I was smoking my two hose mitsuba about 1hr ago...its time to retire it...I've repaired it sooo many times, but now its leaking out of the stem itself when I purge, meaning seals have gone to hell...sad sad days for a broke college student [/threadjack] Edited April 9, 2008 by r1v3th3ad

Kathrynx
Electricity and water don't mix for me...but...I had an idea similar to this, that involved making a vase out of ice, like an ice mold, and put your stem in it.
erufiku
Sounds cool, waiting for photos of a working prototype How would you clean it though?I wouldn't be worried about cooling it, just make an appropriate insulating case. Canon
all of that tubing on the inside..... first the smoke will get stale, and lose flavoring, the smoke getting that cold will also decrease on the flavoring and the tubing will be a bitch to clean. Voski
I think something like this has been done before. Its a hookah that places music and has its own lights built in. The video I saw was in german so I couldn't tell what the guy was saying.

Most polycarbonate is hydrophillic, so there won't be any remnants. As far as cooling is concerned, it would only be an alternative to ice in the base.QUOTE I think something like this has been done before.
