SmokinMoose
Ok so I tried to get Tangiers Apple going for the first time i acclimatized it and smelt good. I packed the bowl, i just picked up to tobacco and placed did not sprinkle or anything. I placed 2 ql 3 kings and i was getting some decent smoke but very little flavour. Occasionally it would get a little harsh, so I took off one of coals and it would be ok but alot lighter smoke. I have some pics attached of the hole pattern of how it was packed my set-up is a med. phunnel bowl no mod and an Egyptian sheesha i had some ice and water in the base. I have looked at all the tangiers how-to's as well as the video on youtube. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

SmokinMoose
Ok ill try that out how about the hole pattern is it good. I had the foil on very tight but it sags once i started smoking.
paiintballa182
Dont worry about the foil sagand your hole placement is pretty good, make slightly bigger ones though
Bulldog_916
Pack it a quarter to a half an inch past the rim. The foil will hold it down. Then big big holes and cut your heat in half. 1 3k cut in 2 and put the pieces on opposing ends of the bowl. If you arent getting good heat, add an extra half and put it in a triangle. Hope that helps.
boulderkid303
Wayyy bigger holes. And make sure you go ALL the way down and touch the bottom of the bowl with whatever you use to poke it.

Snoopy1966
Try this out. nOOb Tangiers Pack Works Great!! It works very good for someone who has not tried Tangiers. I have pics in the link on how I packed it and put holes in the foil. Do exactly how it says. You will get good flavor and no harshness, the smoke will not be as thick, but it is still very good. Adopt this method until you get the feel for Tangiers. You do have to pack it a little more dense then other tobaccos. After a while try the link in my sig too. I hope this helps. thecoalition
eric from tangiers has posted a how to somewhere on the board....eternal soil threw this post up a while backhttp://www.hookahforum.com/index.php?showtopic=17179&hl=tangiers is actually easy to do1. no fluffing. stir and plop.2. pack more than you normally would.3. tight foil. big holes.4. start with a little heat and add more if needed.thecoalitions simple guide to being a pro.ive never had problems with tangiers and i was smoking it before i joined the board.i pulled the easiest move of them all. you know that phone number that comes on the package?if you call it....someone answers and tells you what to do.at the time i talked directly to eric. not sure if he still is the only one to answer though since that was like 4 years ago. Deathwish238
QUOTE (mathuv @ Apr 11 2008, 07:49 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>pics... or it never happened!!Pack it tight. Really really tight. It'll smoke well as it won't burn easily and it'll last a freakin long time. I use two 1/4 Exotica sticks on each end rotating them every so often. When they get small I put on the windcover. Since all we know about schnozberries is that they taste like schnozberries... one can only assume that Tangiers Schnozberry tastes like what schnozberries taste like. I think that just hurt my brain a little.

erufiku
i remember reading that cold water in the base is a no-no for tangiers. supposedly lukewarm water will get you more flavor.

SmokinMoose
So i had some success with Tangiers Red Tea flavour, but i didnt use the phunnel bowl. I used my small Egyptian clay bowl very good flavour and good smoke. I didn't get to finish my session because I had to get back to studying. I left the bowl and im gonna get back to it. I think im gonna try to prefect using the phunnel with other types of tobacco first then try tangiers in it. Thanks for all the help. I think i need more tobacco too I only have 50g samples of tangiers right now so i can see which flavours i really like before getting the 250g packages. I like the red tea very relaxing flavour. MechAnt
Red tea is one of my favs. Tangiers works just as well in a standard bowl so no worries. The phunnel just augments the longevity of the session.
