Umair777
Hey Guys just wondering with so many choices with coal whats the best one to use... thanks
mushrat
Well...I think Bulk natural is the best, only because its what I choose to use. Its messy, you have to break it into workable chunks with a knife or such, and they take a while to get going, but I like the total lack added flavour and the more "traditional" feel to it. Plus i have to mess with SOMETHING whilst i smoke. I suspect if I ever get some Nour's or such to try I might change my mind, but the only finger types I can get here are Al Kemma and they turn nasty when ashed. And I don't feel like spending the money to buy a bag of Nours online just to not like them. I'll trade someone Nakhla or al waha for a few Nour finger coals... HooKendo
Ditto mush, definitely bulk coal. It's hella cheap, and you can adjust the size based on what type of ma'assall you're smoking. Only problem is that you NEED a stove or a good jet lighter to get it started, otherwise you'll be sitting there with a dinky lighter for a hlaf hour burning your finger. Guest LondonShisha
Umair, where are you based? I use the charcoal fingers which aren't too bad. If you're in London I can give you some to try out.
mushrat
Hookendo: Yup, have one of the kitchen/brazing butane torches. Going to have to spring for a mapp gas full sized torch one of these days....
Soup
I haven't tried natural coals so a cannot say I like them or not. I mainly use 3 kings quicklites. They're fast, inexpencive, and don't add any charcoal flavour...although I have heard of some people here at the forum saying that 3 kings taste like ass fermented in a dirty boot, but I don't taste them. HookahDuck
I use Golden quicklights. They have less of a taste than 3 kings IMO, though they are a little more difficult to light. Slightly more expensive than most quick lights... but its not like this is a cheap hobby anyway!
Soup
Goldens are nice, I don't think they are any better than 3 kings, they are more on par with 'em. I only use 3 kings because they are cheap to buy locally. I'm sure that if I ever use some good naturals, my opinion will change.
gunsboy
I have tried several kinds: 3Kings is fast burn, cheap, but it ruins the taste of any premium type of tobacco. Nour Charcoal is pretty good but burns really fast. Japanese charcoal is ok but I heard that it is not too healthy and it also burns out fast. I liked bulk charcoal. It is the cheapest but it smells bad when you light it indoors.
