Coconara's

Recommended Posts

Get a very subtle flavor that doesn't mask the chemical taste and you'll notice it.

Also, just because the coal stops sparking doesn't mean all of the chemical additives have burned away.

IMO, natural coals add a rich body to the smoke that you just don't find with quicklights.

3kings ftw

+1 I'll stick with my 3k QLs. They're reliable and don't leave any flavor and last about an hour per coal.

I don't need any special fanyboy coals thats the hot new thing.

please do not compare quick lights to natural coals...if you really think 3k are better than golden canary, exoticas or coconara you really haven't smoked enough. its pretty much fact that they are so much worse.

not trying to insult, its just the truth. mmm mmm added chemicals to ignite them.

i'v been smokin for 14 years buddy. if i have time for natural coals il use them. but 3k has always been the fastest route. no added chemical taste or anything if you ignite them off the bowl you should be fine. Anything that you have a hit and miss shot such as exoticas. and golden japs im sorry still waitin to see what is so great out them they jus taste like shit. 3k is simple and consistant. thanks

i never had coconaras, but the cocochas i have last for an hour and a half.
they do take a little longer to light than jap silvers coals. they only emit a little smell when lighting but not when smoking and don`t add any taste.

you can get them at 8 euros(6.5 quid) for 3 kilos at shisha-world: http://www.shisha-world.com/Cococha+Kokoskohle+3kg.htm

i`m not a fanboy and i also like jap easy lights.

How much is shipping from Germany to NL?

omg, its a coal... and you're smoking it! and youre worried about chemicals? CO is a chemical... and its known to KILL people.

If you have a choice, you might as well take it, right?

Quicklights just compound another chemical or two on top of the carbon monoxide.

the golden canary are the least harmful to your health. they burn the cleanest and ash the best. least accelerants in the coal.

I'll continue with Diamante Easy-lite Jap coals or Exoticas till somehow I am swayed otherwise. From now on though I'm going to add a request in the vendor's comments/requests field to check the Exotica coals for any discoloration before they ship them. This should protect against most bad-batch craziness. It's easy to protect yourself, you just have to preempt the problem.

I actually just did my review of Coconaras. From what I experienced, they "technically" lasted for just over an hour, but they aren't smokable for that entire hour. I mean if you start off with 2, in 45 minutes to get decent smoke going you will need to toss another coal on.

at shisha-world they use DHL and charge 17 euros for germany to nl,
and at 12moons.de (which also sells cocochas) they ship with regular german post and charge 8 euros.

Haven't tried that actually. I'll definitely have to dig up my old one and give it a shot. Does it really increase the heat that much?

Ok, initial first impression...

These will take more to light than exoticas.

I cant light them on a hot plate. (i dont have coil burner)

they do however light very quickly with a blowtorch which exoticas do not.

if you dont get them lit completely there is very very little taste but it can get hot until it gets completely lit.

so far i'm less than 5 mins in.

Ok, so about 35 mins in and i realised i didnt allot a good amount of time to try these out for the first time. I also did not start them on a fresh bowl. they got here mid bowl.

I have to go to class soon but if i have time tonight ill load up a new bowl an give a better time.

They didnt take long to settle and heat pretty well.

they look like they have been on there for maybe 5 mins as far as ash goes.

one thing i did notice is that you have to be a little gentile with them when you pick them up cause they can crumble a bit.

Not a big downside because i have to score then snap exoticas and it makes just as much if not more crap.

if you rub them you can get black on your hands same as exoticas.

I´m smoking Tangiers right now with 1.5 coconaras (it takes superhuman abilities to split them though) and it's as near to a perfect bowl as I've gotten so far. BTW I'm using a standard MYA bowl.
