MechAnt
Well, the topic at hand here is, what kind of coals do you use on a phunnel? I use Canary Golden Japs, three or four on a medium phunnel. When I smoke Tangiers, I'm a bit hesitant to use natural fingers, specifically the triangle shaped ones that are locally made. With the smaller size and excellent heat of the Canarys, I don't know exactly how to manage with the fingers. I guess I'm gonna have to sacrifice a bowl of Peach Iced Tea to learn. What do you use on the phunnel with Tangiers or Non-Tangiers??
theotherone31415
i PREFER to use 40 mm 3 kings. 2 of them are so freakin' awesome, can't go wrong. just put half hanging off the bowl on either side (medium phunnel). The thing is, i've been all out for a while and having been using exotica and strongly dislike them. i don't know if i got a bad batch but i just don't have good sessions with them at all. i use half a stick, broken into 2-3 pieces and placed in a triangle shape. either no smoke or no taste and no smoke or smoke and harshness. so lame. canary are sweet too. ordered me a box a few days ago throug hc (who are pretty good at what they do)

Bulldog_916
I use 2 Diamante jap coal pieces. Works every damn time, almost to a T. I am going back to exoticas though, asap.
Scoop
golden canary seem to work the best with tangiers. 3 of them in a triangle pattern in the center of the bowl works superb for me. i use 3 1/4s of an exotica stick when i run out of canary coals. NoDeadBodies
small phunnel with tangiers use like 3 (3/4 inch) peices of exotica coals...or if i cut a piece too long i stand it on its side so it only covers a small surface area
