Number Of Hoses

What do you feel is the optimal number of hoses? Obviously, it varies on what setting you're going to be using it in, but I'm considering getting a new hookah soon. I'm playing with the idea of getting a single hose hookah, but I usually smoke with 4-6 people, for which two hoses seems perfect. Of course, I have had times with my three hose hookah with three people exactly, no passing, haha. A single hose means more passing, but unless it was with four or more people I don't think I'd be annoyed. Based off of product reviews it seems to me that two hose hookahs are the most popular -- is this wrong?

So, in a nutshell, will I regret it if I get a single hose hookah?

They sell hose adapters that connect to the purge valve, so you could always add another hose.

On the other hand, it's easier to subtract hoses than it is to add them.


So, I'd say it's a matter of how often you're in large groups. If it's frequently, have them pitch in for a more costly 4 hoser .

no you won`t, they usually have the best draw anyway. and if you want keep your options open, i suggest getting a mya, because then you can easily screw on another hose port if needed.

Yeah get some kind of Mya. The one I currently have is expandable up to 4 hoses, when you buy the hose adapters. I have one and an extra hose, but only whip it out when there's 4 or more of us.

I like two or three hosed ones...just depends on if the port has a ball bearing or not, in my book...I like it with ball bearings so I dont have to plug other ports

definitely go for a mya. i upgraded to a mya recently and got some additional hose ports, it makes it so much nicer to be able to hold on to your own hose the whole time.

plus, i can easily take off the adaptors and have a nice one hoser

I have a one hoser and am going to buy an adapter this weekend, so when there are more of us I can make it a 2 hoser.

I bought a Mya Frost from South Smoke, it was a 1 hoser that I purposely bought an adapter for to make it a two hose...

If it's just myself smoking, I just unscrew the adapter and screw in the purge valve... But it goes up to like 4-6 of us smoking usually, and 2 hose works perfectly.

When struggling with how many hoses, i have to agree go mya. most of them are expandable to from one to 4 hoses. I bought a one hose and a couple of adapters no big deal, screw off the valve or plug, pop in an adapter and bam you are set. I still use my 3 hose pharaoh and hose plugs if I am alone. I generally don't smoke alone so multi hoses are great in my opinion. Edited April 14, 2008 by Stuie

True, unless you usually only smoke with numerous people. I think a one-hoser works best for 1-4 people, its' no hassle to pass the hose around. Two-hoser is good for 4-8 people, though when you get up to around 7, 8 people you will probably just want to bust out another pipe.

Edit: Of course this is if all people are smoking regularly, if someone just takes a hit every 10 minutes then count them out of your number. Edited April 14, 2008 by [Elmo]
