Stuie
I stick with mutual funds. Tend to find I make money more consistently with Mutual Funds than spending my time playing the single stock game. That's just what I do.
insomniac950
If your gonna do stocks right now, energy and oil along with consumer staples is the way to go
ahwahoo2006
I've been doing rather well in mutual funds as well...For stocks: I've done well lately on Piedmont Energy (PVX), up about 20% since I bought at the beginning of the year, and CSX Transporation (CSX), up about 30% on the year. John Stuart Mill
I’ve currently done quite well investing in Russia. Russia’s economy is still woefully undervalued. The proportion of oil and natural resource in their total GDP continues to decrease. In the face of increases in commodity prices their economy under government incentives continues to diversify. Putin understands the need to have a generally strong economy. He may have aspirations of grandeur, but he wishes to achieve a greater power through aggrandizing Russia as a whole. What I find particularly indicative of future economic success is the development of their urban areas. By 2012 Russia will have the 10 tallest buildings in Europe, and will also have the second tallest in the world. A competent administration has stemmed the tide of Yeltsin’s cowboy capitalism. They have shaped the economy to be productive long into the future. They restrain those who would aggrandize individual wealth at the expense of all. No longer are they a dependent country merely seeking immediate gains. Plus, their total trade with the U.S doesn’t exceed 3 percent of their GDP. They would be somewhat isolated from a decline here. At least that was the case in terms of this downturn.

Doesn't Ever Leave The A airport.. how could you invest in them! But in all seriousness, airlines are always a tricky stock to playI am a relatively new investor but some recent stock picks this week are CBLI and WX.. WX is still in a downtrend but the last couple days it seems to have found a bottom (hopefully).. a stock broker friend told me about this oneCBLI made me 20% the other day and then today it dipped down so I bought more. It has a price target of 13 bucks for the next 12 monthsOh and just to keep this thread positive. Everything I say is only my opinion and you should not buy a stock that I suggest or anyone else suggests. It is purely for research purposes. Cause when I saw that Delta was going bankrupt I just knew that they would come back up eventually. So when I thought that delta had finally gone bankrupt I invested all my money in it but then I found out that they hadnt filed for bankrupty yet... thats when I researched a little and found out that all delta shares would be null and void unless you were in some special delta stockholders club. (that I wasnt in xD) I sold my shares really fast at a horrible loss :/ only had $3000 left out of the $8000 i originally had.but you know, you live and you learn xD I'm gonna stick with janus mutual funds from now on Edited April 16, 2008 by emachine
