emachine
according to most users here the rolland quick lights that come with my hookah package suck, and I was looking for alternatives when I stumbled upon this massive bag of natural ROYAL OAK brand coals in my garage. Do you guys think it's alright to use for hookah? I'm heating one on my stove top right now and it seems to be alright. (did spark a couple times, but the bag is like a year old, it was stored inside of another garbage bag to keep out moisture)some pics20 LB BAG! It does have a carbon monoxide warning on the top, it's the only bit that worries me.the long shaped one is about the size of my middle finger Edited April 14, 2008 by emachine
r1v3th3ad
looks fine to me...wood coals of any sorts usually work well, but ya...the warning would scare me
Hookah_Bob3
they'll work but they'll be a bitch to keep lit
emachine
ah, well i have a portable gas stove that I could use to keep them hot. As long as they are better than the rolland quick lights then its good
Steemax
Those will work just fine, the warning label is on all the natural wood coal bags, dont worry bout that, as long as it says Natural and its wood, with NO CHEMICALS, your good to go. I buy a 4 dollar large bag of natural wood coal that lasts me about 2 weeks, if i smoked every day. I love local middle eastern grocery stores
emachine
Sounds good! I'm so happy I found good coals in my garage! Now I have more money for shisha
mushrat
Ya..any coals that cay "lump" or "bulk" charcoal will work. Though not only will they be a bitch to light, they will be a bitch to keep lit. You'll likely have to pretty much hit that puppy almost constantly. Also, they are likely to burn hotter than your rollands, so watch your heat levels. ryno
I've used some similar to those the other day and while they do work, like others said they are a bitch to keep lit. Halfway through the bowl, they started to go out on me.
RayVer
You should be fine with these... The rolland quick lights do suck - almost anything is better than that.
mathuv
as a former user of bulk coals.. i agree they are a bitch to keep lit, unless you constantly hit/blow on them
Ralleac
When I light bulk coals they usually stay fully lit the entire time while I'm taking a few pulls every minute or three. I don't usually light back-ups for later until I'm ready to use them since they will go out if you aren't smoking. They might take a little longer than most natural charcoal fingers, but the time difference isn't that noticeable. The shape has always been the most annoying part for me. I usually wind up tossing a third of each bag I buy because the pieces are too small to use.
