I've never met anyone else in the world who has listened to the Stray Bullets. Unfuckingbelievable band. Met there bassist (Andy) on a video game forum, and we both played bass, so I found out about them that way. I wish that they were still around and that they'd put out more than that one album. Unreal.Bender is my least favorite track on the cd though.
Shakes
I was in some biker-ish bar called the Iron Horse a few months back and there was this guy named John Valby. I'd never heard of him, but he was sloshed playing piano and singing some rather nasty, but certainly all-American drinking songs that everyone there knew. Anyone know about this guy and whether his stuff is pouplar enough to consider "American Drinking Songs"?

He's actually from the New England area, and plays quite a bit around here. He's up there with David Allen Coe. Neither of them are exactly politically correct, but a whole lot of fun to see! Won't be hearing either on the radio any time soon. Are the songs popular enough? Depends on the crowd...crowd of bikers? Yup. Crowd of people my age in New England, most likely. Younger crowd, probably not.BTW, the Iron Horse is a GREAT bar, isn't it? Spent some time there during bike week.

GuyWithTheGun
There's a lot of Sublime drinking songs....I'm trying to remember the name of the band from boston that sings a lot of irish-esque drinking music, one of the better songs is"We drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and fight! We drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and fight! And if I see a pretty girl, she's home with me tonight!DRINK AND DRINK AND DRINK AND DRINK AND DRINK AND FIGHT"Shit.....why am I drawing a blank? my boss used to jam these guys whenever I was driving a truck...gimme a sec...Ah. The Dropkick Murphy's. Ninety percent of their songs are drinking songs, I promise youEdit: DKM is still a bad-ass drinking band, but the song above is actually sang by Flogging Molly, a very similar band with more great drinking music. Dom
here's one that i don't think anyone knows. my brother went to Belgium for the foreign exchange program and the students from the States had this song. The custom there was to only drink your beer with your left hand and if you were caught with your beer in your right hand, you'd have to down the rest of your beer at the conclusion of this song:Here's (name) he's true blue. He's a piss-pot through and through. He's a bastard, so they say;He tried to go to heaven but he went the other way;He went DOWN! DOWN! DOWN! DOWN! DOWN! DOWN! (until the guy finishes his beer)anyone ever heard of that one?

ajones256
I know of one song which I have learned and managed to retain for quite some time. It is in fact an american drinking song and is quite lewd, so it should be quite popular with those who enjoy a good drinking song. Walking Down Canal Street Walkin' down Canal StreetDrinkin' e'er more,I'll be a son-of-a-bitchI couldn't find a whore. (Chorus; optional)Hidey, hidey, hidey, hideyWho the hell are we?Wham, bam, thank you ma'amWe're the Infantry. When I finally found a whoreShe was nice and slim,I'll be a son-of-a-bitchI couldn't get it in. (Chorus) When I finally got it inI wiggled it all about,I'll be a son-of-a-bitchI couldn't get it out. (Chorus) When I finally got it outIt was red an' sore,The moral of the story isYou never fuck a whore!
