AmunRa
I have had some bad flavors in my day, but none this tasteless. I ordered the 5 50g box sampler from HC, and I was stunned. The reviews of this brand are pretty good, but I got no flavor out of any of the ones I ordered. I got strawberry, jasmine, mangosteen, pomegranite, and figs, and I swear if I had smoked the box they came in it probably would have tasted better. If you are about to try Layalinas, be sure to start with the 50g boxes so you don't waste too much money! laxicon347
If I am low on money (which is most of the time ) I always get Layalina Strawberry or vanilla and have only had one bad session, and that was only due to having only like 5 gs. Ive always had it smoke oh so nicely. What kind/how many coals were you using? Edited April 16, 2008 by laxicon347
Venzor
Layalina has a more subtle taste than, say, Starbuzz, but I've never had a problem with it not tasting... except that one time I forgot to put the coals on the foil
Cybersist
I find Layalina at its best in 250g containers. I got a sampler pack once after trying vanilla, mint, and mango out of 250s. I got some flavors I tried to have a constant variable, and yes, 50g containers suck
NJE03
My experience with this brand has always been good, in fact I found it to be one of the more flavorful shisha.

Isn't tobacco like every other consumable product - made in large batches/vats and then packaged by weight? So that technically all gram weights should taste equally good as they come from the same batch? I know Tangiers for instance is a more personal product because Eric is still a relatively small manufacturer and so may be producing smaller batches - but surely the big national brands are cooking it up in huge vats?'Rani

Just a guess.

MrMoodz
50g of Layalina is hit or miss. I bought 3 recently and only 1 has good flavor. The other two tastes only like tobacco. Every 250g tub of Layalina has been enjoyable with pronounced flavor. Stick with the 250g tubs.
Alademuerte
I had bought a sampler pack, 3 50g's a while back... Like strawberry, and 2 others...The flavors were ok, they burnt out pretty quickly... Just way to... I dunno..Wont ever buy it again.
Bulldog_916
I would definitely start with 250 gram containers. 50g ones can get dried out, juices can escape, air can get to it. Avoid all of those conditions and get a 250.
Johnny_D
I've never had the flavours discussed by the OP or ever had 50g sample boxes. It's my humble opinion that most 50g sample boxes's do not give a good account of the tobacco. However as mushrat pointed out, you should probably aclimate it for a while first. Also like anything else you may need to adjust your heat techniques for different tobacco's. Some like more heat than others. Don't allways give up at the first hurdle.JD
jordanneff
I've smoked quite a few 50g boxes of layalina, all without acclimation and most were damned good if I do say so myself. But a little over a month ago I ordered a 250g tub of Layalina's Strawberry Kiwi.... smoked 1 bowl and the thing tasted like nasty ass soap. Haven't touched it since... quite frankly I'm afraid to. I dunno if Layalina has had some bad batches lately or what, but that's a very good possibilty.Just wanted to say really that while in the past Layalina has always been pretty decent, they might have had some bad batches recently so that could be your problem... I really hope it's mine because I can't imagine anyone enjoying the crap that's in my layalina strawberry kiwi tub o.O Edited April 16, 2008 by jordanneff
Johnny_D
I had a Thread running a couple of months ago about layalina batches appearing to be random and crap. Thus far the bin has enjoyed 1 raspberry, 1 watermelon and 1 blackgrape. All 250g's all with a weird ass smell & taste. Would not exactly describe as soap exactly, but it wern't bloody right. So I am shying away from Layalina which is a shame - it was my staple smoke for quite some time.JD

Well, glad to know I wasn't the only one with a bad batch of layalina. I had had their strawberry kiwi before (but in a 50g) and it was delicious so when I bought the tub I figured it'd be the same but yep, tasted like soap.
